You’ll leave this session ready to meet everything that awaits you in your internship, and beyond.
Working closely with a qualified coach, take some time out to consider your career in this 1-to-1 session. Reflect on your strengths and weaknesses, think critically about your aspirations, then set out your plan for the future.
Of course, you’ll be busy experiencing the life of an Architecture intern. Your time will be packed with meetings, trips and dinners; so you can pencil in this session at the right time for you.
Some interns prefer an early appointment to prepare themselves for the coming weeks. Here, you can outline your expectations and set out the goals you’d like to meet. Others wait until a good way through their internship for a meeting of two halves; focus initially on your progress so far, then consider what you’d like to achieve in your final weeks.
Or you can take your session in the last few days of your internship to cap things off. Look back on what you’ve gained while working here, then think about your next steps after leaving the city.

A popular tourist destination, take a trip out of Barcelona to take in the ancient city of Girona. Take in the city’s ancient cathedral – recognizable as a filming location for Game of Thrones – before sampling an array of fantastic street stalls and markets. Cap off your time here by marvelling at Girona’s ancient city walls!
There’s nowhere better to discover the art of world-class paella than Spain. Here, you’ll head to a local market to pick out the finest ingredients, including chicken and tasty chorizo sausage. Then work with a master chef as you learn all the tips and tricks for making authentic paella. Share your new skills with your friends and family back home!
Take a tour of Barcelona as you dive into this ancient and varied city. Marvel at the magnificent architectural feats that make the city famous, including the still-unfinished La Sagrada Família – almost 140 years in the making! Then sample some classic Spanish tapas as you soak up the atmosphere – food and drink, music, and fantastic sights await!
You’ll be excited to discover what it’s like to intern in Barcelona, so here’s a look at a typical 6-week Architecture internship.
After months of detailed planning, you’ve finally made it: welcome to Barcelona! You’re already looking forward to uncovering everything this vibrant city has to offer; but first, allow us to whisk you to your new home for the next few weeks.
Spend your first day relaxing. Some interns take the time to kick back in their room or a nearby tapas bar; others might head straight back out the door and explore the city. Either way, you’ll join us on your second day for your comprehensive orientation. We’ll soon familiarize you with everything that awaits you on your program, including the glorious city of Barcelona itself. That evening, when the city comes to life, head out to your first community dinner. Get to know your new friends, all over some authentic Spanish food.
On your first day of work, turn up early and ready to learn. Meet your team and boss – you’ll be a spending a lot of time here over the coming weeks, so make a good first impression. Don’t be afraid to ask questions; you’re here to learn, and your colleagues want to see you succeed.
As you get to grips with your workload, you’ll soon find yourself challenged. So it’s a good idea to take an early skills workshop. Take some time out to train your core skills and competencies; all under the watchful eye of professional coaches. You’ll leave this session feeling energized for the weeks ahead.
Soon enough, it’s already time for your first trip. Journey out to the historic city of Girona as you indulge in some authentic Spanish culture. Food, architecture, and impressive ancient ruins await.
As the weeks go on, you’ve been growing increasingly confident in your architectural abilities. You’re now a dab hand at generating architectural blueprints in industry software, including Photoshop and InDesign. And you’re adept at juggling your colleagues’ workloads as you assist them with their varied cases. So head out to a nearby café with your manager and discuss how you feel you’re getting on.
After a busy couple of weeks, you’ll want to unwind at a community dinner. This time, meet up with your friends and try one of Barcelona’s many authentic international dishes; or grab takeaways and picnic in a nearby park. Let your friends know how you’re finding your time in Barcelona!
You’ll have received an invite to a professional networking event by now; so head along to build up your growing contact list. Meet with top architecture professionals as you swap views and stories; get it right and job or interview offers may be just around the corner.

Your final trip is an afternoon of food, culture, and architecture as you soak up everything Barcelona has to offer. Take this final chance to discover everything you can about the city; it’s a great way of saying goodbye.
Before you’re due to leave, head out to your final event: your farewell dinner. Take this opportunity to say goodbye to your friends; arrange your first group meet-up, then bid each other farewell. And in your final days, take one final dash around the city, taking in everything Barcelona has to offer. Explore the long boulevard of La Rambla; or head over to Gaudí’s Park Güell to uncover some quirky and sometimes bizarre architecture!

Our housing partners in Barcelona are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Architecture internship begins. This is due to the demand for short term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
