With start dates every month, and lasting anywhere between one and six months in length, choose the internship program that best suits your preferences and goals.
A birthplace of revolution. A city bombed and put back together again. A fierce streak of history runs through Berlin’s architecture. You won’t find it more clearly demonstrated than in the remains of the wall that once split the city in two; now covered in graffiti and messages of love, hope and rebellion. You’ll find big ideas in Berlin; what can you contribute to this endlessly creative city?
Berlin is the most populous city in the European Union. You’ll find plenty here, and with approximately 190 nationalities represented, there’s always someone new to meet and something new to learn.
Develop your core competencies and knowledge with our fantastic skills workshop.
You’ll use this opportunity to work closely with professional coaches and inspirational speakers. Undertake exercises in key skills, including professional confidence, leadership, and great communication.
Leave this session ready to take on your varied workload – and any future challenges.
Consider your achievements and aspirations with a 1-to-1 career coaching session. With the professional insight of a qualified career coach, you’ll think closely about your skills, strengths and goals.
Some interns pencil in their meetings for the opening days of their program. This is a good option for setting out your expectations and goals for the weeks ahead. Alternatively, you could wait until a few weeks in for a mid-program session. Here, you’ll be able to make any course corrections for your remaining time in Berlin.
And finally, you could even use your meeting as a way of capping off your internship. Look back at your achievements, then turn your mind out to the future. What opportunities await you after your return home?
At any time in your program, you’ll also have access to tailored career advice and interview support. From assistance as you perfect your CV or resume; to tips on pulling together a professional portfolio that’s ready to send out to employers.
Our online portal of employability tools and resources will help you boost your skills. Learn something new and apply it to your internship.
Here are just some examples of the support we provide:
– A personal development plan toolkit
– Online interview skills seminars
– Sessions on building your brand and communication
– And many more useful resources you can access at any time
If you’ve got an eye for detail, a steady hand, and a capacity for concentration, Architecture will suit you well. Here’s a few examples of the kinds of tasks that might await you in Berlin:’
– Conduct and implement project research
– Undertake site visits while shadowing surveyors and architects
– Collaborate with designers, consultants, urban planners, contractors etc.
– Create outlines and 3D models using Photoshop or InDesign
– Assist in client consultations and liaise with suppliers
Alongside your Beyond Community, you’ll feel at home in Berlin in no time.
A world city of culture, Berlin has something for everyone. Indulge your passions or try something new: from the largest spectator film festival in the world to a checklist of iconic landmarks. Or enjoy underground clubbing, authentic beer gardens and some of the best symphonic music you’ll find anywhere. Step outside the city and you’ll find forests, green spaces and more.
You’ll discover all of this with your Beyond Community beside you. You couldn’t ask for a better group of fellow explorers.
When you land, you’ll join us for your orientation. This is your chance to get familiar with everything that awaits you in Berlin; from fantastic trips and dinners to your firm and workload. We’ll also send you regular invites to our community events, including our popular dinners, so keep your eye out.
Your international experience is your time to build up your network of professional contacts. We’ll help you by inviting you to a top industry networking event. This is a great opportunity to meet several leaders in the Architecture sector in quick succession. Gain some new sectoral knowledge and perhaps secure an interview down the line!
A UNESCO World Heritage site and the capital of Brandenburg, Potsdam lies about 40 minutes out of Berlin. A fairytale city with a rich history, there’s plenty to see here. Known as the Versailles of Germany, visit the Sanssouci Palace to gain a glimpse into Europe’s royal past. Then enjoy the city’s lush and beautiful gardens, which house Roman baths and the impressive Antique Temple.
There’s no easier way of getting to know Berlin than a walking tour through the heart of the city. Across classic and contemporary art, Berlin is home to a fascinating and thought-provoking cultural collection. Explore and see what you can find, then take in some street art to discover an urban perspective on things. And as you go, enjoy a selection of delicious street food – try some schnitzel and currywurst!
For over 100 years, the Clärchens Ballhaus has been the home of dancing and celebration. Now, the building stands as one of the few remaining ballrooms of the 20th century. Take full advantage of this Berlin highlight as you enjoy a night on the town; dance to your heart’s content, then indulge in a delicious meal and cocktails!
Here’s a snapshot of a typical 6-week Berlin Architecture internship.
You’ve been planning this for months, and your hard work and anticipation is about to pay off. Welcome to Berlin, a city with a rich and varied history. Begin your adventure and meet us at the airport; from here, we’ll take you straight to your awaiting accommodation. Then spend the rest of your first day as you wish; convalesce after a long flight or get out there and explore.
Whatever your choice, join us on your second day for your orientation. We’ll update you with everything you need to know about living in Berlin. You’ll head out in the evening to meet your new friends; bond over some hearty German food.
Turn up to your first day of work nice and early. Work hard and make a good first impression on your colleagues. Keep in mind that this is a learning experience; your colleagues and manager are here to help, so take advantage of their insight. You might even want to take an early workshop to sharpen your skills; this will help you prepare for the challenging and varied workload ahead.
Next, you’re about to embark on your first trip. Take a journey out of Berlin as you discover the picturesque city of Potsdam. Immerse yourself in a truly historic city as you soak up some fantastic culture.
It’s week three, and you’re getting into the groove of things. From compiling project research into briefing notes for your colleagues to getting hands-on with the practical side of architecture; you’re really developing your skills. So why not head out to a café with your manager and chat about what you’ve achieved?
Work has been busy over the past few weeks, so you might want to take some time out at a community dinner. Meet up with your friends and chat about how your internships are going; enjoy a delicious German dish or try one of the city’s many international restaurants.
By now, you’ll have got to know a few of your fellow professionals. We’ll give your growing network a boost by inviting you to an industry session; hit it off with the right person and you might just have secured yourself a future interview.
Now it’s time for your second tour. Take a wander through Berlin as you soak up some of the city’s famed art and culture. Snack on a wide selection of street food as you go; chat with the locals to learn something new.
You can’t quite believe it, but your internship is drawing to a close. This is a good time for your 1-to-1 career session; cap off a completed internship by analyzing what went well and what could have gone better. Then reflect on what comes next in your career.
You’ve seen a lot of Berlin, and it’s time to complete your cultural education. The Clärchens Ballhaus offers an unmatched evening of fun: dine and drink cocktails, then go dancing until you drop!
But now, it’s time to meet up with your friends for one last time. You’ll laugh and cry as you say goodbye; enjoy your final evening together, then pledge to keep in touch. And before you’re due to fly out of Berlin, make one last dash around the city to take in as much as you can. Take the Berliner Unterwelten tour to discover the underground secrets of Berlin; or head out to the Grunewald (Green Forest), where you’ll find a range of impressive villas!
We collaborate with a diverse array of companies, spanning from boutique PR firms to multinational advisory firms. Please note that these examples are purely for reference. The specific company you’ll be associated with will be determined by a wide range of criteria.

You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
