After months of excitement and preparation, you’ve finally made it. Meet us in arrivals and we’ll whisk you straight to your new digs.
You might want to use your first day to get over jet lag. Or you can begin your adventure and explore your surroundings as soon as possible. Either way, join us on day two for your detailed orientation. You’ll quickly get up to speed with what awaits you in Tokyo. Afterwards, get to know your new Beyond Community. Many interns say they make friends for life on our programs, and this is where it starts.
You’ll be eager to get on with your placement, so respectfully introduce yourself to your manager and your colleagues and dive right in! After a busy first day, why not unwind at a community social? Debrief with your new friends as you socialize and enjoy a few drinks together.
You’ll find yourself regularly stretched and challenged while interning in Tokyo; many interns opt for any early skills workshop to prepare themselves for the weeks ahead. Work with coaches and speakers to get yourself up to scratch, then go out and apply your new knowledge!
And before you know it, it’s time for your first trip. Head up Mount Fuji to discover some breath-taking natural beauty. Relax by ancient Shinto shrines and tranquil lakes.
By now, you’re comfortable in your new role. You can confidently navigate the competing needs of stakeholders and feel like a master of architectural software. So why not take this opportunity to head out to a nearby café with your manager to discuss your progress?
Tokyo is a bustling and dynamic city, and you’ll constantly be meeting new and interesting people. To aid your development, head along to a networking event organized by Beyond Academy to make a name for yourself. Swap contact details with industry leaders; you never know where it might lead.
Grab a bite to eat at one of our community dinners and catch up with your new friends over a steaming bowl of ramen. Then, hop onto Japan’s highly efficient subway system to get home.
Next, it’s time for your second event. You’ll learn the secrets of traditional Japanese tea-making, while wearing the traditional kimono!
As your internship draws to an end, you’re in a reflective mood as you look back on your time in Tokyo. You’ve had an amazing professional experience, gained fantastic friends, and developed your list of industry contacts. It’s certainly been a worthwhile experience. So now might be a good time to take stock in a 1-to-1 career coaching session. Look back on your achievements and consider what steps you can take to improve; then set out a roadmap for your future success.
To conclude your cultural education, it’s time to visit Shinjuku. Experience Tokyo’s famous nightlife scene and immerse yourself in food and drink as you bar hop, enjoy karaoke bars and maybe hit a nightclub. Known as the ‘Sleepless Town’, there’s nowhere in Tokyo quite like Shinjuku for entertainment!
Before you pack your suitcase, there’s one last event: your farewell dinner. Congratulate your Beyond Community on your incredible experience together, and say goodbye. In your last few days, you’ll want to squeeze as much out of Tokyo as possible. Whether that’s visiting the many gaming arcades in Akihabara or discovering the Digital Art Museum, you won’t regret it.
We collaborate with a diverse array of companies, spanning from boutique PR firms to multinational advisory firms. Please note that these examples are purely for reference. The specific company you’ll be associated with will be determined by a wide range of criteria.
