As your plane whisks over the iconic Manhattan skyline, you’ve finally made it to New York. Step off the plane and then allow us to whisk you to your new home for the next few weeks.
Spend your first day relaxing. Some interns take the time to kick back in their room and get over the jet lag; others head straight back out the door and explore the city. Either way, you’ll join us on your second day for your welcome orientation. We’ll soon get you up to speed with everything that awaits you on your program, including New York itself. That evening, head out to your first community dinner. Introduce yourself to your new best friends as you unwind over a slice of pizza or pastrami sandwich.
On your first day of work, meet your team. You will spend a lot of time here throughout your program, so make a good first impression, then get to work. An internship is a learning experience, so pay attention and ask questions; your co-workers will be a fantastic source of knowledge and inspiration while you’re here.
But as you begin to get to grips with your workload, you’ll soon find yourself challenged. Why not take an early skills workshop? Boost your core competencies as you thoroughly prepare for your coming internship; you’ll leave this session feeling utterly renewed.
Soon enough, it’s already time for your first half-day trip. Welcome to the world-famous borough of Brooklyn; spot some iconic landmarks, soak up a fantastic view or two, and immerse yourself in the local culture.
It’s week three, and you’ve quickly adapted to your varied workload. Whether it’s generating new ideas at pitch meetings, representing your firm to clients and funders; or re-working your company’s social media strategy. So take some time out with your manager and chat about how you feel you’re getting on.
You’ve been swept off your feet with work the last few weeks, so it’s a good time to kick back and spend an evening with your community. Head out to dinner and snack on one of New York’s many international cuisines as you let your friends know how you’re getting on. Ride the subway home, or take an open-top bus and sightsee as you go!
Through various meetings and informal chats, you’ll have met a lot of businesspeople while you’ve worked; and you might have already picked up a few contacts of your own. To help you as you grow your network, we’ll send you an invite to an exclusive industry session. Meet top business leaders and impress; it might just pay off down the line!
Next, it’s time for your second guided tour. Welcome to the Lower East Side, a historic neighbourhood that offers a melting pot of people and culture drawn from all over the world. Explore the neighbourhood’s art galleries and museums, then listen to some live music!
Your internship is nearing its end, and you’re feeling reflective.
