Take a journey out of Barcelona to discover Girona. A popular destination for tourists, Girona offers an unmatched insight into thousands of years of history and culture. First, take in the impressive city fortifications, dating back to the Roman era; then discover a varied history through the city’s selection of art galleries and museums. Finish off your day by experiencing Girona’s Jewish Quarters – some of the best-preserved in Europe.
A signature Spanish dish, there’s nothing quite like that perfect bowl of paella; and you’re about to learn all the tips and tricks to making it! Take a trip to a local market to pick out the freshest ingredients, including chicken, prawn and chorizo; then get to work alongside a master chef! It’s a skill you’ll never forget.
Soak up the atmosphere in the heart of Barcelona as you discover its two best features: architecture and tapas! With its distinctly Spanish style, you’ll immerse yourself in a city of cathedrals and colorful Modernist masterpieces. As you explore, you’ll go hopping from tapas bar to tapas bar, experiencing every Spanish snack the city has to offer!
You’ll be curious about what exactly your Consulting internship might look like, so here’s a look at a typical 6-week program.
As you land in Barcelona, you reflect back on the months of preparation and excitement: it’s all been leading up to this. Take your first step into the glorious Spanish sunshine before meeting us in arrivals; we’re here to take you to your home for the coming weeks.
The rest of your first day will be spent settling in. For some that’s laying low in their room; for others it’s making their way into the heart of the city in order to maximize their time here. The choice is yours. On day two, you’ll join us for your orientation. This is your chance to get to know Barcelona, as well as the work you’ll be doing. And later that evening, you’ll meet your Beyond Community for the first time. Get to know each other over some authentic Spanish food; you’ll soon bond over your shared experiences.
On your first day of work, make sure you’re on time before introducing yourself to your new colleagues. Then it’s time to immerse yourself in your workload and get to work. If you ever need help or assistance, make sure to ask for it; you’re here to learn, and your colleagues want to see you succeed.
Soon, it’s time for your first trip. Take an excursion out to the nearby city of Girona to uncover some authentic Spanish culture and history. Explore museums, art galleries, and preserved ruins!
By week three, you’re gaining confidence every day. You’re a pro at juggling your colleagues’ caseloads, jumping from one client to the next as you offer ad hoc assistance; and you’ve developed your industry knowledge based on briefings, presentations, and your colleagues’ own insight. So it’s a good time to take some time out with your manager and discuss how you’re getting on.
After an intense few weeks, you’re in the mood to relax. So head down to a nearby restaurant to meet up with your Beyond Community. Your first meal was authentically Spanish, so why not try a local Indian or Thai? Swap stories with your friends and enjoy yourself; you might even conclude your evening with a moonlit walk along a beach.
By now, you’ll have met a number of consulting professionals in your busy and varied role. You might even have picked up a few contacts already. But to help you build up your fledgling network, we’ll send you an invite to a top consultancy event. Make a good impression on the right person and it might pay dividends down the line.
For your second tour, you’re about to discover how to make some sumptuous paella. Working with a master chef, you’ll learn all the secrets to preparing this classic Spanish dish; you’ll be able to impress friends and family back home with your new skills.
As your internship draws to a close, it’s a good time to reflect on what you’ve achieved. So book in your 1-to-1 career session to chat with a qualified coach about your time in Barcelona. Then cast your mind out to the future and set out a roadmap to your dream job.
Your final trip will take you on a journey across Barcelona itself. Take in the world-famous creations of Antoni Gaudí on display around the city; then sample some delicious Spanish food as you try all the tapas you can get your hands on!
Your six weeks here have flown by, and it’s time for one final meal to say goodbye to your community. Reminisce about your favorite memories of your time in Barcelona, then say farewell to your friends. And before you’re due to fly out, make one last dash around the city to take it all in. Sip a cocktail in Marlowe Bar, one of the best bars in all of Spain; or head up to ‘the bunkers’ to discover an anti-aircraft battery used in the Spanish Civil War!
