Some interns take an early appointment as a way of setting stall for the weeks ahead. Here, you can think about goals you’d like to meet while in Sydney. Before you get started, we’ll take you through a comprehensive welcome orientation. This is where you’ll be introduced to Sydney and all the work you’ll be doing here; as well as the community events and trips you’ll undertake in your spare time. We’ll also send out regular invites to our popular community dinners; head along and catch up with your friends!
We’ll send you an invite to a professional networking opportunity while you’re in Sydney. Head along and meet top leaders in your sector; hear some useful industry insight and chat with the best in the business. Make a good impression on the right person and good things may be just around the corner.
A two-hour drive out of Sydney, the Blue Mountains are one of Australia’s most impressive natural landmarks. Across the wilderness you’ll find mountain towns and fascinating wildlife. Visit Scenic World for a great base from which to get a view of the mountains; ride the world’s steepest railway or get an unmatched glimpse of the valleys below in a suspended cable car.
A masterpiece of architecture, the Sydney Opera House stands out as a world-famous icon. The Opera House is home to six theaters and hosts over 2,000 shows each year. Whether it’s cabaret, comedy, dance or musical theater, there’s something for everyone here. Enjoy a night on the town as you take in a world-class show; cap off your evening with dinner and drinks.
Enjoy a dive into the heart of Sydney with this food tour. You’ll journey through winding streets and back alleys, following a guide as you snack on everything the city has to offer. You’ve been waiting for this moment for months; now, you’ve finally made it. Welcome to Sydney. We’ll be awaiting you at the airport to take you to your accommodation. When you get there, how you choose to spend the rest of your first day is up to you. Sleep off the jet lag or head straight back out the door and start exploring!
You’ll join us on your second day for your orientation. Here, we’ll get you familiar with what to expect from your program. In the evening, meet your Beyond Community; you’ll soon be the closest of friends.
Introduce yourself to your colleagues on your first day, then get things started. Your co-workers will be a source of inspiration and knowledge while you’re here; ask questions and watch them closely. Even so, it’s a good idea to get your skills into check with our immersive workshop. Learn something new from coaches and speakers!
Before you know it, it’s time to head out to the Blue Mountains for your first trip. With impressive sandstone ridges, Indigenous Australian rock art, and much more to discover, you’ll certainly have your hands full.
It’s week three, and you’re really beginning to feel comfortable in your role. Working closely with your colleagues, you’ve expanded your knowledge base widely through briefing sessions and case studies. And you’ve been on-hand to provide ad hoc assistance to your co-workers whenever they need it. In fact, working across multiple projects has given you a fantastic broad overview of exactly how this industry works. So head out to a café with your manager and chat about your progress.
You’ve been working hard, and you deserve a bit of time to kick back and relax. So head out to the next available community dinner and meet up with your friends. Find out how their internships are going, and share stories from your own. Then take a slow walk home along the harbor.
You’ll have met plenty of consulting professionals as you’ve worked. It’s time to truly grow your network with an industry meet-and-greet session. Get to know the top minds in your sector and pick up some international contacts; who knows where it might lead?
Now, it’s time for your second trip. Welcome to the Sydney Opera House, a truly iconic landmark. Enjoy a world-class night on the town as you experience all the delights it has to offer.
Your internship is drawing to a close, and you’ve pencilled in your 1-to-1 career session. Cap things off with this trip down memory lane. What did you get right in your internship and what could you have done better? Finish your session by reflecting on the steps you need to take to get to your dream job.
Your final trip will take you into the heart of Sydney as you enjoy a fantastic mix of local food and culture. Take this food tour as you wind through the streets of the city, sampling everything Sydney has to offer.
Finally, you’ve got one last event on the horizon; a goodbye dinner with your friends. Meet up and reminisce over the good times you’ve had; then say farewell as you get ready to leave Sydney. And in your remaining free time, dash around the city to make as much of it as you can. Check out the evocative ‘Forgotten Songs’ Sound Sculpture; or head to the White Rabbit Gallery to discover one of the world’s most significant collections of contemporary Chinese art.

Our housing partners in Sydney are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Consulting & Professional Services internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
