Our immersive workshop is the chance for you to develop your core skills and competencies while in Berlin.
Working alongside professional coaches and inspirational speakers, you’ll go through a range of exercises in key transferable skills. Including leadership, adaptability, professional confidence, and more.
You’ll leave this session feeling newly invigorated to face the challenges of your internship.
Consider your successes and failures so far with this 1-to-1 career session. Reflect on your strengths and weaknesses, then plan ahead for your future career; all with the professional insight of a qualified career coach.
Some will take a meeting in the opening days of their internship. This way, you can set out your goals for the weeks ahead of you. Or take your session half-way through your time in Berlin
to take stock of what you’ve already gained; then consider what improvements you can make in remaining time.
Lastly, you might want to wait until the final days of your internship to look back on your program as a whole. Reflect on the skills and experience you’ve gained; finish off by setting out a roadmap for your future career.

Engineering can be a tough discipline. With long hours of intense work, you’ll constantly be making precise and challenging calculations. But there’s nothing more satisfying than a project pulled off to perfection. Here’s the kind of tasks you’ll be undertaking while in Berlin:
– Produce clear, consistent and referenced calculations, reports and sketches

When you land in Berlin, join us for your welcome orientation. This is where we’ll familiarize you with everything that awaits you; from the firm you’ll be joining to all the community events and dinners you’ll enjoy during your program. We’ll send out plenty of invites to these popular dinners; head along to kick back after a busy week.
Your Berlin experience is your opportunity to build up a network of your fellow engineers. You’ll get to know your colleagues as you work, but we’ll help things along by sending you an invite to an exclusive industry session. Meet leaders in your sector and impress them; hit it off with the right person and you might just have secured yourself an interview opportunity down the line.
With the highest number of palaces per inhabitant in Germany, you’ll be spoiled for choice in Potsdam. Once the capital of Prussia, and home to its kings, you’ll find remnants to the royal era wherever you look. Explore the city’s sixteen palaces and its immaculately sculpted royal parks.; then head out to the Dutch Quarter. Known as the Holländerviertel, here you’ll find the largest number of Dutch-style red brick houses outside the Netherlands.
Berlin is famous across the world for its cultural delights; with this art and food tour, you’re about to experience a few of them. Make your way across Berlin as you go from museum to art gallery and back again, taking in classic masterpieces and contemporary highlights as you get to grips with the Berlin art scene. As you go, enjoy stall after stall of delicious German food. Between traditional maultaschen and tasty sauerbraten, there’s so much to try.
Take a trip back to the twentieth century as you visit the Clärchens Ballhaus, a ballhouse of glittering lights and endless sophistication. Revellers young and old journey to this last remnant of Berlin’s Golden Twenties; join them as you enjoy live music, dancing, and cocktails. Sit back and soak up the atmosphere, or head to the dancefloor for a swinging time!
Here’s a glimpse of what it’s like to undertake a typical 6-week Berlin Engineering internship.
After months of planning, you’ve finally made it. Step off the plane and take in that unmistakable first breath of a brand-new city. You’ll soon be immersed in the heart of Berlin; but first, meet us in arrivals and allow us to whisk you to your new home. From there, you can either sleep off the jet lag and settle in; or get out there and start exploring.
Join us on day two for your orientation, where you’ll soon settle in. We’ll get you up to speed with everything that awaits you in Berlin. In the evening, why not head out to dinner to meet your new friends? Introduce yourself over hearty currywurst and beer; you’ll soon be the closest of friends.
On your first day of work, get to know your new colleagues and the workload that awaits you; then dive in! Keep in mind that you’re here to learn; ask questions and watch your co-workers carefully. They’re keen to see you succeed, so take advantage while you’re here.
Even with the support of your colleagues, you’ll likely still find yourself challenged by your work. Take a skills workshop to get into the right mindset for the weeks ahead; undertake exercises in key skills alongside coaches and speakers, then leave this session ready for anything.
Soon enough, it’s already time for your first day trip. Make the journey out to Potsdam, a fairytale city packed full of grand palaces and royal gardens. Explore some UNESCO sites and learn some history while you’re at it.
It’s your third week in Berlin, and your Engineering internship is going well. You’ve been working closely with your team on a number of projects; you’ve been constantly sketching and using computer software to produce new designs. And you’re gaining great experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. It’s a good time to reflect on your progress with your manager.
You’ve been working hard these last few weeks, so it’s time to take a break. Head out to a community dinner and catch up with your friends. Try something new as you explore Berlin’s offering of international restaurants.
You’ve probably picked up a few contacts of your own already, and you’re about to make a few more. Head out to a professional networking event and meet leaders in Engineering; chat and share your thoughts on the latest developments in your sector. Hit it off with the right person and good things may come of it.
Your second trip is a cultural experience through the heart of Berlin. Enjoy some delicious German food as you experience art old and new; Berlin is a cultural hotspot, and there’s nowhere else in the world quite like it.
Your internship is nearing its end, and you’ve booked in your 1-to-1 career session to review what you’ve gained. From world-class professional experience to a cultural immersion like no other, it’s certainly been worth it. Finish your session by planning your next steps after leaving Berlin.
Your final trip will see you heading to the Clärchens Ballhaus. Find a partner and go dancing in this tribute to sophistication; enjoy the drinks and music as you soak up the authentic throwback atmosphere.
You’ve got one last event to attend before it’s time to leave Berlin: your farewell dinner. Pledge to keep in touch with your friends as you celebrate your achievements; then say goodbye. And before you’re due to fly out, make the most your remaining free time here. Enjoy Berlin’s Spy Museum as you discover a history of secret agents and espionage. Then have a cocktail (or a non-alcoholic mocktail) in the Monkey Bar; enjoy the view of the Berlin Zoo as you do it!

Our housing partners in Berlin are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Engineering internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
