Finding your feet in a new city is never easy, and that’s where the Beyond Community comes in. Your fellow interns will be experiencing the city together; you’ll get together for dinner and social events, bonding over your shared experiences.
After you arrive in Berlin, we’ll ensure you get a thorough orientation. You’ll become familiar with the city and the internship that awaits!
After the orientation, our welcome lunch or dinner will be the perfect opportunity for you to get to know your fellow interns better. Many of our previous interns have made friends for life during their internship programs!
We’ll also host a community lunch or dinner every two weeks for the chance for you to experience some German food and culture!
Your internship in Berlin is about so much more than just first-class work experience; this is your opportunity to dive head-first into German culture. We’ll arrange three unmissable half-day excursions to help you make the most of your time in Berlin. You’ll get the chance to experience regal palaces and cool street murals – the city is yours!

You’ll benefit from their experience, developing your skills in team building, effective leadership, and so much more. After the session you’ll feel confident to apply what you’ve learned to your internship and beyond.
You’ll have a chance to reflect on your professional goals with a 1-to-1 coaching session. With a trained coach, you’ll consider your accomplishments so far and how you can build upon them going forward to achieve your goals.
This session is truly tailored to you and takes place whenever it suits you. Schedule it soon after you arrive for a chance to plot out your expectations and goals for your internship. An early appointment will allow you to set expectations and prepare for the weeks ahead. If you prefer to get settled in first, you could plan to wait a few weeks before meeting with a coach. Giving yourself time to get some work experience before your session will allow you to reflect and consider your progress, planning adjustments to ensure you get the most out of your time in Berlin.
Lastly, you may wish to plan your session for the very end of your internship. Using this session as a stepping stone into your career, you’ll have the chance to plot out all you have achieved during your time in Berlin and plan for the future.

The world of startups can be intense. There’s never a dull moment and there’s always plenty to work on but you can rest assured that you can be proud of everything you do. Your tasks and responsibilities will likely cover a range of areas. Here’s a few examples of the tasks you might undertake while in Berlin:

Upon arrival, we’ll give you a warm welcome at the comprehensive orientation, providing you with lots of information about everything you need to know. Whether it’s your internship, the best sights in Berlin, or a great coffee shop recommendation – we have you covered! But that’s not all, we’ll also send out regular invitations to our popular social events, so take some time out of your busy week to enjoy some great food with friends.
Your internship abroad is your chance to make international connections in the startup industry. You’ll be invited to a professional entrepreneurship networking event where you’ll get to meet industry leaders. You never know, if you make a great impression you might just find yourself with a new business partner.
You’re sure to fall in love with Potsdam’s picturesque scenery. Just a short journey from Berlin, Potsdam has spectacular royal palaces and the Holländerviertel (Dutch Quarter) which is home to the largest number of Dutch-style red brick houses outside of the Netherlands. Many of these buildings are now used by boutiques and cafés. You’ll feel like you’re having a cup of coffee in a fairy tale!
An important city for contemporary art, Berlin is a natural choice for an art tour. Between museums and art galleries you can take in the striking graffiti that covers so much of the city. And in between stops be sure to find some of Germany’s most delicious foods! You’re never very far from your next schnitzel or bratwurst.
A landmark of Berlin’s music scene, Clärchens Ballhaus is one of Germany’s last remaining turn-of-the-century ballrooms. While you’re here, be sure to grab a drink and enjoy an amazing selection of live music as the atmosphere takes you back in time to experience Berlin’s golden era. It’s an unmissable experience that you’ll remember forever.
You’re probably excited to know what it’s like to be an intern in Berlin. Here’s a snapshot of a typical 6-week Entrepreneurship & Startups program.
You’ve been preparing for months and you’re finally here – welcome to Berlin! When you step off the plane we welcome you at the airport and take you to see your new accommodations. From there, the world is your oyster on that first day; you might hop on the subway and start exploring the city or you might take it easy and settle in while you recover from jet lag.
On day two you’ll officially start your internship journey with a comprehensive orientation. You’ll get lots of information about what lies ahead for you and you can ask any questions that might arise. In the evening you’ll meet new friends and dive into some authentic German food.
Ensure you’re on time for your first day of work, this is your chance to meet your new colleagues and make a good impression. You’ll get a good idea of what kind of work you’ll be responsible for, and then you can dive right in. Ask questions along the way; your colleagues have a lot of experience and their insight will help you learn something new.
You might find working in a startup to be overwhelming at first. If this is the case, you might consider attending a skills workshop early in your internship. Professional coaches and speakers will be on hand to help you hone your skills and develop strategies to approach your workload. You’ll feel more confident and prepared for the weeks that follow.
Next, take some time to unwind with a trip to Potsdam. The first of the day trips, Potsdam is home to beautiful gardens and picturesque palaces. It’s the perfect place to sink your teeth into German history.
Once you’ve made it to your third week, you’re starting to find your place within your firm. You’re managing stakeholder communication plans, assisting colleagues to promote the brand across social media platforms and these skills will resonate for the rest of your career. Be sure to take an opportunity to grab a cup of coffee with your manager and discuss your achievements.
After an intense few weeks, you’ll want to dedicate some time to kick back and relax. Stop by a community dinner and meet up with your friends. It’s the perfect opportunity to hear about their internship experiences and share your own stories; be adventurous and enjoy one of Berlin’s international cuisines!
By this point, you’ve probably connected with a number of people in the startup world. Make sure you strengthen these links by attending an industry networking session. Meet other leaders in the startup industry and use this opportunity to learn from their expertise. You never know, a great conversation could pay off down the road.
Your second day trip is coming up. Prepare yourself to really get to know Berlin; enjoy the unrivalled contemporary art scene alongside a delicious assortment of food.
As you start to wind down your internship, make sure you take some time to book a 1-to-1 career session. Take the opportunity to reflect on your achievements and the skills you’ve honed throughout your internship. You’ll get the chance to plan out a career roadmap alongside a professional coach.
On your final trip, you’ll be whisked off to Clärchens Ballhaus. You’ll step back into the golden era of the city in this glamorous ballroom; drink delicious cocktails and dance the night away to live music as you experience 1920s Berlin.
But now your time in Berlin is drawing to a close; it’s time to attend your farewell dinner. Say goodbye to your new friends and reminisce over the memories you’ve made in Berlin. Before you fly home, make sure you’ve seen everything you can of the city. Have a drink and watch the sun set at Klunkerkranich Bar or go on a hunt for the famous Stand By Me tree in Tiergarten Park!

We carefully select our housing partners in Berlin. All accommodations must meet our stringent standards for safety, quality and cleanliness. Primarily in shared apartment or student accommodation, you’ll be living with fellow Beyond interns or other young professionals. It’s a fantastic way to make friends and build a community, especially if you’ve come from abroad.
There will be plenty of communal space, including a kitchen, bathroom, and other living spaces. In addition, you can look forward to your own private bedroom complete with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often a desk. Each location is different but rest assured you’ll be in close proximity to public transport. We do our best to ensure your commute is no more than 30-60 minutes from your firm.
Normally, 3-4 weeks before your Entrepreneurship & Startups internship we’ll confirm your accommodation and location. This is because of ever-changing availability and a high demand for short-term accommodation.
