Our internship programs have start dates every month, and last between one and six months. So you’ll be able to choose an internship that suits your diary.

Tokyo stretches for as far as the eye can see, and countless opportunities await you. It’s an international city, home to people from all over the globe. We carefully curate our workshop to ensure you flourish while in Tokyo.
You’ll work with inspiring speakers and professional coaches to improve skills in leadership, problem-solving and communication.
And you’ll leave with a set of in-demand skills highly valued by prospective employers.
With the guidance of a qualified coach, you’ll undertake a 1-to-1 session to reflect on your career. Whether that’s discovering your strengths and weaknesses, or reviewing your internship so far. As a result, you’ll come out of this session feeling renewed and empowered.
Of course, your diary will be packed full of meetings, trips, and social events. So you’ll pencil this session in at the right time for you.
With an early appointment you can consider your strengths and how best to apply them to your coming internship. A mid-term session is a nice halfway point, allowing you to reflect on your progress so far and adjust for the remainder of your time in Tokyo.
Or you might prefer a later meeting. As it’s a good way to look back at your program. As well as begin thinking about your next steps and future endeavours.

Whether you’re looking to experience origami or traditional kabuki theatre; or if you just want to chow down on some iconic sushi, Tokyo has it all.
You’ll feel totally at home in Tokyo. The Japanese are extremely polite and respectful, and they’ll always help you get around if you’re looking for advice. You’ll also fit right into your new Beyond Community. Whatever support and advice you need, they’ll have it.
When you arrive, you’ll undertake our comprehensive Tokyo orientation. We’ll take you through everything you need to know, from your program to your new city. And you’ll also receive dinner invites every few weeks!
You’ll get regular opportunities to attend industry networking events while you’re in Tokyo. Impress industry leaders and build an array of impressive contacts!
You’ll journey up to the imposing Mount Fuji, an iconic shadow looming large over Tokyo. Marvel at the breath-taking natural beauty; take walking or climbing routes to discover more about this amazing spot. Make sure you pay a respectful visit to the ancient Buddhist Taisekiji Head Temple which rests at the foot of this amazing area. And then take in the calm of Kawaguchiko Lake.
To the Japanese, attention to detail is everything. Learn all about the intricate process of traditional Japanese tea-making, all while donning a traditional kimono!
Visit a delightful interactive museum that showcases modern Japanese digital art technology at its finest!
Throughout the program, your Tokyo Community Coordinators will be by your side, providing friendly support, and lots of fun and memorable experiences.
You’ll want to get a glimpse of just what it’s like to intern in Tokyo. That’s why we’ve put together a snapshot based on a typical 6-week Entrepreneurship & Startups internship.
As you fly in, you catch a glimpse of the iconic, towering Mount Fuji. That’s when you know you’ve really made it: Tokyo. We’ll meet you after you touch down – let us take you straight to your new accommodation.
Use your first day to unwind. Whether that’s heading out to a nearby café to soak up the atmosphere; or just kicking back and relaxing in your hotel room. Day two is all about our comprehensive orientation. We’ll get you up to speed with everything that awaits you on your program, including Tokyo itself. Then it’s time to introduce yourself to your new Beyond Community – all over some delicious food!
On your first day of work, you’ll meet your manager and the rest of your team. Over the coming weeks you’ll be spending a lot of time here, so make a good impression and get stuck in! After your busy first day you’ll be able to unwind at a Community Team dinner. So snack on some amazing sushi and swap stories about your new job. Then head home, navigating Tokyo’s high-tech public transport system.
You’ll be constantly challenged throughout your internship. A great way of preparing for the weeks ahead is participating in an early skills workshop. With professional guidance, you’ll acquire a set of tools to excel in the entrepreneurial world; not just during your internship, but in your future endeavours too.
And then it’s already time for the first of your immersive day trips. You’ll begin with a journey to Mount Fuji. On a clear day, you’ll get an extraordinary view over Tokyo; make sure you take in the ancient and spiritual Shinto shrines before you leave.
You’ve settled in well to your busy, varied internship. Whether it’s market research, assisting with client meetings, or brainstorming sessions, you’re increasingly at ease. So head out with your manager to eat some soba and discuss your progress.
You’ll be continually meeting new people while interning in Tokyo, adding new names to your growing list of contacts. To assist you, we’ll be searching for the best industry events for you to attend. Head along whenever you can – they’re a lot of fun, and you’ll leave with plenty of new and prestigious contacts! Who knows how that’ll help you in the future?
Next, it’s time for your second event. You’ll learn the secrets of traditional Japanese tea-making, while wearing the traditional kimono!
Your Tokyo Entrepreneurship & Startups program is drawing to a close. You’ll be sad to go, but you’ll leave with new skills, contacts, and an unmatched international experience. Not bad for six weeks!
If you haven’t already, take advantage of your tailored 1-to-1 coaching session. Look back on what you’ve learned and start thinking about what comes next, all with the help of a professional coach.
You’ve truly immersed yourself in the culture of Japan – from iconic landmarks to iconic food. So it’s time for one final trip into the heart of Tokyo – Shinjuku. Bathe in the neon glow as you experience this amazing nightlife – from karaoke rooms to bars, izakayas and restaurants.
There’s one last event for you to tick off before you go: your farewell dinner. You’ve made amazing friends in your Beyond Community; congratulate each other, swap contact details, and say goodbye.
Make sure you do everything you want to do before you go; have a last-minute shopping spree in the Shibuya district, or uncover the moving story behind the Hachiko Statue. Then board your plane and wave goodbye to this amazing city. Your time in Japan may well have fuelled inspiration for your next business venture or idea!
We collaborate with a diverse array of companies, spanning from boutique PR firms to multinational advisory firms. Please note that these examples are purely for reference. The specific company you’ll be associated with will be determined by a wide range of criteria.

Our Tokyo housing partners are chosen according to our rigorous safety, quality and cleanliness standards. The housing we offer is mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. So your roommates will be fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals; it’s a great way to build a local community.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed close to public transport. Depending on the location of your firm, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Entrepreneurship & Startups internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
