As you take in that distinctive New York skyline, you can’t quite believe that you’ve finally made it. A fun-filled city of endless culture and attractions awaits you; kick things off by meeting us in arrivals. We’ll take you to your new accommodation so that you can begin settling in; whether you want to unwind in your room or head out and explore the city is up to you.
You’ll join us on day two for your comprehensive orientation. This is where we get you up to speed with your internship and the city itself. In the evening, you’ll head out to meet your Beyond Community for the first time. Get to know your new best friends over a pastrami sandwich or slice of pizza.
Turn up promptly on your first day of work and introduce yourself to your co-workers. Make a good first impression, get the lowdown on the work you’ll be doing, then dive in. This is a learning experience, so make sure you ask as many questions as you can; the insight and expertise of your colleagues will be invaluable.
However, even with the support of your colleagues you’ll still probably come to find yourself challenged. So take a skills workshop and prepare yourself for what’s to come. Work with professional coaches to improve your skills, then apply your new knowledge to your internship.
Soon enough, it’s time for your first day trip. Get to know the world-famous borough of Brooklyn as you explore everything it has to offer. Soak up some culture and take in a sight or two.
By your third week in New York, you’ve really found yourself in the groove of life with your busy startup. You’ve been working closely with your colleagues, assisting them as they meet with stakeholders and potential investors; you’ve even had the chance to lead a meeting or two yourself. And you’ve gained confidence in contributing to the no-holds-barred flow of brainstorming and pitching sessions, debating new ideas to improve your firm. So take some time out with your manager to discuss your progress.
After an intense couple of weeks, you’re looking to relax. So accept an invite to a community dinner and head out on the town. Enjoy some good food and chat with your friends as you find out how their internships are going; then grab a yellow cab or the Subway home.
You’ll likely have met plenty of fellow entrepreneurs already. We’ll help you build your growing list of contacts with an invitation to a top networking session; make connections with industry leaders and good things may come of it.
Next up, it’s time for your second tour. Welcome to the historic Lower East Side; immerse yourself in a melting pot of culture drawn from all over the world. Make sure you visit a gallery or museum before you leave.
As your internship nears its end, take some time to reflect on your achievements. Book in your 1-to-1 career session to chat with a qualified coach about your time in New York. Finish your session by thinking about the future, setting out a roadmap to your dream job.
Your final trip will take you on a deep dive into New York’s world-famous jazz scene. Enjoy the live music and delicious drinks on offer; it’s a cultural experience like no other.
Before your program concludes, it’s time for your final scheduled event: your goodbye dinner.
