“What I loved about Beyond Academy and why I choose them is because they are more flexible and more individually tailored to what each person is looking for, rather than just a generalised experience. My group and the entire Beyond community has been really welcoming. I am so lucky to be able to have this experience with people that are similar, as in we are all looking to grow personally, grow professionally and also just enjoy every moment. Everyone here has left behind the familiar and has come to the unfamiliar which can be scary, but when you have a community as good as this, it’s not scary at all.”

Or you could be assisting hotels as they convert to a more eco-friendly future – half of all hotel rooms in Amsterdam are sustainable already! Whatever your role, you’ll take home vital hands-on experience and a new outlook on life; it’s a fantastic way of kickstarting your career in environmentalism.

You’ll find English widely spoken in Amsterdam, allowing you to meet new people and business contacts with ease. Immerse yourself in this multicultural city and learn some interesting history and culture; then share your own!

Or you could wait until a few weeks in for a balanced session; consider what you’ve gained so far, then think about what can be improved for your final weeks.

Lastly, you could opt to meet in the final days of your program. This way, you can look back on your achievements in Amsterdam, then consider your next steps after leaving the city.

And at any time in your internship, you can access personalized career advice and interview tips. Whether you’d like assistance in perfecting your CV or resume, or guidance in fine-tuning your LinkedIn profile; we’re here to help.

The city is a total departure from the usual busy, traffic-filled metropolis you might be used to; cycling is the transportation of choice here, and that means less pollution and less noise. Grab a bike and explore the city, then stop off for a coffee in one of Amsterdam’s many cafés. Or prepare a picnic and take in one of Amsterdam’s curated green spaces, decorated with beautiful flowers and iconic tulips. Of course, there’s all the museums and art galleries you could ever need; as well as restaurants and bars offering a unique Dutch experience.

With you every step of the way will be your Beyond Community. There’s no better group of friends with which to experience a brand-new city.

After you touch down, we’ll take you on a comprehensive orientation, introducing you to Amsterdam and the work that awaits you. You’ll also receive regular invites to community dinners; they’re a great way to keep in touch with your friends.

Networking Opportunities

Take advantage of your international experience to get to know as many professionals in your industry as possible; after all, you never know where your next job or interview offer may come from. We’ll send you an invite to an exclusive industry event, so head along and meet some of the top names in environmentalism!

Canal Cruise

Take a relaxing cruise around Amsterdam as you experience life from a new perspective. Kick back and relax as you sight-see around the city; from iconic sights to multi-colored gabled buildings, there’s no better way to get to know Amsterdam. And as you go, feast on some delicious Dutch food and drink!

Market Tour

Dive into the heart of Amsterdam with a market tour. Immerse yourself in the history and culture of this multifaceted city as you explore a variety of stalls and markets. Meet new people and experience Amsterdam from a street level; and make sure to sample some Dutch classics while you’re here, including Hollandse nieuwe (raw herring) and deep-fried kroket!

Zaanse Schans

Head out to Zaanse Schans to get a glimpse of a simpler time. This centuries-old site, full of preserved buildings and windmills, is the perfect opportunity to learn a bit of Dutch history. Visit museums and traditional houses, then sample some fresh food at a nearby bakery. Grab some handcrafted souvenirs from artisanal shops before you leave!

Weeks 3 & 4

You’ve been growing more and more confident as the weeks go on. You’re on top of all the latest developments in the world of sustainability; and you’re able to deftly summarize them either verbally or in written reports for your colleagues. Take some time out with your manager and discuss your progress so far.

By now, you might want to catch up with your friends at a mid-week community dinner. Swap stories and unwind as you indulge in some delicious food; then cycle home along a moonlit canal.

In Amsterdam, you’ll meet plenty of fellow professionals and you’re likely to make a few connections of your own. To assist you as you develop your fledgling network, we’ll send out an invite to an exclusive industry event. Meet some top environmentalists and make a good impression; job or interview offers may come your way!

Your second trip is an immersion in the heart of Amsterdam. Take this market tour to get to grips with the city; try some sumptuous Dutch food as you learn a bit of local history and culture. Make sure you stop off and take in the glorious Old Town before the trip is over.

Your last event is your goodbye dinner. It’ll be an emotional night; share your favorite stories of your time together, arrange your first group meet-up, and then say goodbye. Before you’re due to fly out, make sure you’ve checked off everything you want to do in Amsterdam.
