A Professional Environmental & Sustainability Internship

With start dates every month, and lasting anywhere between one and six months in length, choose an internship program that’s right for you.

With its young and innovative population, you’ll find like-minded people wherever you go in Barcelona. The city is full of sustainable and otherwise green schemes to sink your teeth into. Barcelona has taken steps to clean up its emissions, resulting in a high air quality; and it’s a zero-waste city too, meaning that as much waste as possible is sustainably recycled. And with its smart city integration, both traffic and public transport are more efficient and less wasteful.

You might find yourself working on one of these endeavors, or something completely new, as you tackle the challenges facing this big and diverse city. It’s a fantastic way to get some green experience under your belt.

English is spoken widely in Barcelona, so you’ll easily make new connections and relationships. Talk to everyone you meet as you discover new perspectives – it’s a cultural feast!

You can schedule this session depending on what you want to get out of this session. If you want to set out stall for your internship, and perhaps consider a few goals you’d like to meet, an early appointment is a good idea. Otherwise, you could wait until half-way through your internship for a balanced session; focus first on your progress so far, then turn to any improvements you could make in your remaining time.

If you’d like to use your session to conclude your time in Barcelona, take a meeting in your final days. This is a good way of reviewing your achievements before setting out the steps to achieve your dream job.

Throughout your program, we’ll also offer personalized career advice and interview support. Whether that’s resume and CV support or LinkedIn tips, we’ve got you covered.

Weeks 1 & 2

After months of anticipation, you can’t quite believe your wheels are finally touching down in Barcelona. World-class work experience in a spellbinding city awaits you; so to kick things off, meet us in arrivals and let us take you to your new accommodation.

Your first day is yours to spend as you wish. You might want to relax in your room, or else get out there and start exploring. Either way, you’ll join us on day two for your orientation around Barcelona. Here you’ll get up to speed with everything awaiting you in the city. That evening, meet your new Beyond Community. You’ll soon be the closest of friends, so get to know each other!

Turn up promptly on your first day of work; your office will be your base for the coming weeks, so make a good first impression on your co-workers. Get familiar with your workload and then dive in! If you need help or assistance, your colleagues are your first port of call; they’re here to help you find success, after all.

Soon enough, it’s time for your first trip. Head out to the nearby city of Girona and explore a medieval city of ruins, museums, and iconic cultural sights.

Weeks 3 & 4

It’s week three, and by now you’re really getting to grips with the rhythms of your workload. You’re adept at navigating the needs of multiple stakeholders; and your control over your firm’s social media feed is going well. Your latest marketing campaign has increased engagement severalfold! So it’s a good time to head out with your manager to consider what you’ve achieved.

It’s been a busy few weeks, so take the opportunity to accept an invite to a community dinner. Catch up with your friends and swap stories of your adventures over the past few weeks; all while chowing down on one of Barcelona’s delicious international cuisines.

You’ll likely have picked up a few contacts in your time here; so to boost your network, we’ll send you an invite to an exclusive networking session. Get to know your industry; impress the right person and you might be speaking to your next boss.

It’s already time for your second trip; this time, you’re about to make some delicious paella! Work closely with a master chef as you learn all the tips and tricks to this quintessential Spanish dish. It’s a skill you’ll never forget.

Weeks 5 & 6

By now you’re calling the city ‘BCN’ – just like the locals do! But your internship is drawing to a close, so you’ve organized your 1-to-1 session to reflect on the experience. With a professional coach, look back at your progress, then set out a roadmap to future success.

Your final trip is a complete cultural immersion in the heart of Barcelona. Soak up the architecture as you spot countless iconic sights; then experience a taste sensation as you sample every bit of tapas you can find!

It feels unbelievable, but you’ve got one final event to attend: your farewell dinner. Meet up with your friends for one final time; swap your favorite memories of your time in Barcelona, then arrange your first group meet-up. Finally, say goodbye to your community. And before you’re due to fly out, make sure you’ve made the most of the city. Take a Picasso walking tour, finishing up in the Picasso Museum; or head to the Bosc de les Fades bar to surround yourself in a magical forest as you drink!

“What I loved about Beyond Academy and why I choose them is because they are more flexible and more individually tailored to what each person is looking for, rather than just a generalised experience. My group and the entire Beyond community has been really welcoming. I am so lucky to be able to have this experience with people that are similar, as in we are all looking to grow personally, grow professionally and also just enjoy every moment. Everyone here has left behind the familiar and has come to the unfamiliar which can be scary, but when you have a community as good as this, it’s not scary at all.”

Hannah from the United States
PR & Journalism Intern, London Immersive Program

“I am involved in Project Management, which is close to what I want to do in the future. One of my favorite parts of my internship is that I’m taken seriously. In the sense that after building up some trust and showing the company what I have to offer, What was great was that I was able to work on a project from start to finish and really get to know the while process, that really gives me a feeling of accomplishment.”

Karin from Austria
Project Management Intern, Tokyo Immersive Program

“My experience so far here has been amazing, it’s just a shock how much I have been enjoying it. The interns are amazing here so we have been hanging out and getting to know each other and exploring Seoul. It’s really just been a full experience that I have been embracing every single day. I work in a team who creates content relating to K-pop. My favourite part of interning is getting to know my coworkers, being around a group of people that are just so kind and inviting, working alongside them every day has been the best experience. I had been hearing about Beyond Academy for quite some time and I read some really great reviews. I wanted to get the work and life balance, which Beyond offered. My favourite thing about Beyond are the connections I have made here and also the events that have been planned, it gets all of us out to embrace Korean culture.”

Jordan from the United States
