Your environmental and sustainability internship program will be tailored to your preferences.
With start dates every single month, that last anywhere between one and six months, choose an internship program that’s right for you.
An interconnected global city, there are few places better than London to begin your environmental career. In an increasingly globalized world, you’ll be exposed to innovative ways of thinking; as well as new approaches and ideas. You’ll take what you learn with you as you begin your environmental career, synthesizing international ideas into something truly new. And if you ever need a hand in meeting new people, we’ll be there to guide you.
Of course, you’ll be more than working while in London. British work culture is professional and conscientious, but always with an eye on an informal lunch or after-work drinks. Get to know your colleagues in a laid-back setting and your relationships will prosper.
In our carefully structured workshop, you’ll hone key skills and build new ones; all under the watchful eye of professional coaches and inspirational speakers.

Leave this session newly invigorated to tackle all the challenges awaiting you.
In your one-to-one coaching session, you’ll reflect on your career so far; as well as your aspirations and goals. Assess your strengths, weaknesses, and key attributes; all under the guidance of a professional coach.
Your diary will be packed full of meetings with clients, dinners, networking, and trips; so pencil this session in at the right time for you.

Here’s a snapshot of London life, based on a typical 6-week environmental and sustainability internship.
After months of careful planning, nerves, and excitement, you’ve finally touched down in London. As you flew in you’ll have spotted landmarks like the Shard and the Tower of London. In London, landmark spotting will soon become one of your favourite activities! But first, meet us at the airport and we’ll transport you to your new accommodation.
Your first day is entirely yours; so explore or lay low in a local café. On day two, join us for your comprehensive London orientation. Here you’ll learn everything that awaits you on your course. Then, it’s time to meet your Beyond Community. They’ll be anxious to meet you; get to know each other over some delicious British food!
On your first day of work, turn up early to meet your manager and colleagues; then get stuck in! After a busy day, you might want to kick back and relax at a community dinner. Your new friends will want to know how it went; so swap stories over an international dish. Then catch the Tube or take a moonlit walk home along the Thames.
To prepare yourself for this professional challenge, it’s a good idea to take an early workshop. Work with professional coaches to improve your core skills; you’ll leave this session ready to take on the world!
And for your first trip, it’s time to visit Cambridge. This iconic university city is just waiting to be uncovered, so dive in and experience it all. Glorious waterways, peaceful green spaces and medieval buildings await you.
As your internship progresses, you’re growing more comfortable in your role. From familiarizing yourself with all the latest green startups and eco-innovations; to producing an array of written material, from campaign literature to press releases. So now’s a good time to head out with your manager and think about your progress so far.
You’ll be constantly meeting new people while you work in London; and you’ve likely picked up a few contacts of your own. To aid your burgeoning network, we’ll send out an invite to a top industry event. Head along and meet some like-minded individuals in your industry – it may pay dividends down the line.
Next, your second trip awaits: take a journey down to the West End for an unforgettable night of theater, food, and drink. Take in an amazing show and cap off your evening with dinner in a world-class restaurant.
Your internship is approaching its end, so you’re taking a moment to consider what you’ve gained: a professional experience like no other, a complete cultural education in the UK, and life-long friends. You’ve packed so much into just six weeks!
If you haven’t already, pencil in your appointment with a professional coach and plan out your next steps. This will be invaluable in setting out your future career, so don’t miss it.
Your final trip is a food tour. Join a guide and discover everything London has to offer; every back street, alley, and market. This walking tour will leave you knowing London like the back of your hand; and you’ll have experienced a culinary culture like no other.
But before it’s time to go, you’ve got one last event scheduled: your goodbye dinner. Prepare to bid farewell to your community; it’s been an incredible journey, so have one last dinner and say goodbye. In your final days, take in as much of the city as you can. Visit the British Museum or head up the Shard for cocktails and an unmissable view. You won’t regret making the most of London.

We work with a range of carefully-selected accommodation partners throughout London that includes flat shares, student accommodation and co-living sites. We only provide options that meet our safety, quality and cleanliness standards, and all of our partners are located in commutable areas with links to the amazing transport system that London has to offer. Depending on your office location, we try to ensure your commute time is 30-60 minutes. Living arrangements involve sharing space with other Beyond Interns, young professionals, and students, fostering a fantastic opportunity to integrate into the local community.
You will get a private bedroom, and most accommodation options include a private bathroom and kitchenette. Some locations include shared living spaces, lounge areas, workspaces, cafe, gym etc. All rooms come with bedding and Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations can vary but you’ll always be well located and near public transport.
As the demand for short-term accommodation is dynamic and availability can vary, we finalize the details of your specific accommodation and location approximately 3-4 weeks before your start date.
