Lastly, you might want to meet with your coach in the final days of your program. This is a good way of capping off your time in the city. Look back critically at what you’ve achieved and what you could have done better; then turn your eye to the future.

As you dive into your workload, make sure you’re drawing on the support of your colleagues; they’re here to help you succeed. Ask as many questions as you need to!
But you’ll quickly find yourself challenged by new and unforeseen responsibilities; especially if you haven’t worked in the sector before. Take a skills workshop to get on top of things; undertake exercises in key skills, all with the guidance of professional coaches. It’s the best way to prepare for the rest of your internship.
Next up, it’s time for your first day trip. Welcome to Brooklyn, a borough that has it all. Take in the view from the bridge, then dive into this cultured section of New York. Finish off your day with an excursion to Coney Island!
By now, you’re feeling increasingly confident in your role. You’ve been keeping careful track of the latest innovations in the world of sustainability, reporting back to your colleagues to update them on new ideas; and you’ve gained fantastic organizational skills, designing and implementing events at nearby educational facilities to boost local awareness. So it’s a good time to meet with your manager and let them know how things are going.
It’s been a busy few weeks, and you’re looking to relax. Unwind and enjoy yourself with a community dinner; check in with your friends over one of New York’s many international cuisines. Afterwards, luxuriate in Central Park!
By now, you’ll have received an invite to a professional networking event; so head along and start to build up your burgeoning contact list. Meet with the leading lights of the environmental sector as you gain new insights into your industry. Impress the right person and good things may come of it.
It’s already time for your second tour. Take a journey to the historic Lower East Side, a neighbourhood of blended international cultures. Take in some art, music and history as you experience a lesser-known side of the city.
Your internship is drawing to a close, and you’re feeling reflective. Pencil in your 1-to-1 career session and begin thinking about what you’ve gained. From world-class work experience to life-long friends, it’s been the experience of a lifetime. Turn your mind to the future as you consider what opportunities await you after leaving New York.
