If you’re excited about the prospect of a Fashion internship, we’ve put together a glimpse of what a typical 6-week internship in Berlin could look like.
You’ve been preparing for this moment and it’s finally arrived. As you step off the plane, your adventure in Berlin has finally begun. We’ll meet you at the airport and take you straight to your new accommodation; the rest of the day is yours to rest and recover from jet lag or start exploring the city’s rich culture and history. Berlin is your oyster!
On your first full day in the city, you’ll attend a thorough orientation. We’ll cover everything that awaits you on your program and answer any lingering questions. That evening you might want to invite some of your fellow interns to try some of Germany’s most famous foods.
Next, you’ll have your first day of work. Head over to your new firm to meet your team. You’ll want to get to know your colleagues and familiarize yourself with the tasks that you’ll be responsible for. Now it’s time to get to work! Learn as much as possible while you’re here and utilize your colleagues’ experience by asking questions – they’re here to help.
You’ll undoubtedly be faced with new challenges, especially if you’re new to the fashion industry. Set aside some time to take your skills workshop to get ready for the weeks ahead; improve an old skill or pick up a few new ones and apply them to your internship.
Soon enough, it’s time for your first half-day excursion. Explore the picturesque gardens and palaces of Potsdam and sink your teeth into the rich history and culture that the city has to offer.
By week three, you’re getting the hang of your internship and becoming acquainted with Berlin. You’re at the mid-point of your program and you’re becoming more confident with your skills. Your hard work is being noticed, from your firm’s increased social media engagement to your first-class organizational skills. This is a great time to have a coffee with your manager to discuss your progress.
Be sure to allow for some time to relax; your internship is about more than just work, after all. Meet up with your new friends to chat about how their internships are going over some traditional German food or be adventurous and try a new cuisine.
As you pass the half-way point in your internship, you’ll want to start thinking about the future. You’ll have started making industry connections and growing your professional network. Head along to a networking session and get the chance to shake hands with the leading thinkers in the field. Impress the right person and you’ll go far.
Next up, is your second tour. Explore the cultural heart of Berlin through the many galleries and museums that dot the city. You’ll wander between old masterworks and some by innovative young artists, along the way sampling some of the best German street food Berlin has to offer.
As your internship begins to wind down, you’ll be sure to attend a 1-to-1 career session. A professional career coach will help you understand all that you’ve gained during your time in Berlin and how to translate those accomplishments onto your CV or resume. Finish the meeting by making a plan for your goals for the future.
Next is your final trip. Cap off your time in Berlin with a visit to Clärchens Ballhaus. Let the ambiance wash over you, sipping cocktails and dancing the night away at one of the last remaining ballrooms of Berlin’s Golden Era.
As your internship wraps up, you’ll get an opportunity to say goodbye to your new friends at your farewell dinner. Meet up with everyone one last time and reminisce about all you experienced together; there’s no better way to cap off your time in Berlin.
Before you leave, use your remaining time to take in as much of the city as you can. You’ll want to make the most of it so use your time wisely; venture out to Teufelsberg, the eerie, disused NSA listening post on Devil’s Mountain or stop into Burgermeister for a final burger in the old train station bathroom.
We collaborate with a diverse array of companies, spanning from boutique PR firms to multinational advisory firms. Please note that these examples are purely for reference. The specific company you’ll be associated with will be determined by a wide range of criteria.

We choose our housing partners in Berlin very carefully and only work with those who meet our strict safety, quality and cleanliness standards. Primarily student accommodation or shared apartments, you’ll be living with fellow Beyond interns, young professionals and students. It’s a great opportunity to build a supportive community, especially if you’re travelling from abroad.
Having a space of your own is important, so you’ll have your own private bedroom alongside shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces, etc). All bedrooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and sometimes a desk. The location of your accommodation will vary but you’ll always be placed within easy access to public transport and depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your accommodation and location about 3-4 weeks before your Fashion internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
