We want you to feel at home when interning with us. Our Community Teams will help you do just that. They’ll assist you in getting settled in and provide pointers in the right direction, should it be needed.
The Dutch golden age of the 17th century is still on display, but these are modern people with an outgoing and friendly way about them. The Dutch value equality, openness, and honesty and it’s easy to make friends and to socialize.
Amsterdam will soon feel like home, and our community team can help answer any questions you have. Which stretch of the hundred kilometers of canals are the best for an evening walk? What local festivals are coming up? Whatever you need to know, just reach out and check in, they’ll be happy to help.
A full introduction to the program, the city and other interns. The perfect chance to get ready for the transformative few months ahead. There’ll be more dinner invites every few weeks, so keep an eye out.
We’ll invite you to events and networking opportunities in Amsterdam. Build up your international contacts and have fun while doing it.
The ubiquitous canals are a big part of the charm in Amsterdam. A cruise will let you see historic tilting and gabled ‘waterkant huis’ while enjoying drinks and dinner.
From the ‘Dappermarkt’ to the ‘Foodhallen’ daily markets, this is a tour not to be missed. Sushi hand rolls, pies from New Zealand, and Turkish meze; you’ll try treats from every corner of the world.
Trade is a huge part of the history of the Netherlands, their windmills and canals are testament to that. See the charming windmills in Zaanse Schans, learn how the world famous Edam is weighed and take in the beautiful harbour of Volendam in our half day tour.
See what awaits you – here’s a snapshot of what it’s like to intern in Amsterdam based on a typical 6-week program.
You’ll know you’re flying over Amsterdam when you see the crisscross of canals through the city. After all the waiting, you’ve made it!
We’ll help you get settled into your new accommodation and catch your breath, then it’s on to your orientation. It’s here you’ll first meet the other interns and start making new friends.
As you begin your internship you’ll be exhilarated by all the new experiences. You’ll meet your manager and new team, then take a look around the office. Make some time after work to destress and enjoy dinner with the Community Team. Catch a canal taxi home to properly unwind.
As you focus on your internship you’ll be learning so much everyday. It’s a great time to take our Business Workshop to fine-tune your skills with tools and insights you’ll find useful in your internship and beyond.
Get ready to get up close and personal with the canals with our canal cruise tour. Kick back and relax with onboard food and drinks.
Find an hour or two to get coffee and a ‘tompouce’ pastry with your manager and go over the feedback from work.
Amsterdamians are great networkers, and we’ll be finding the best networking opportunities so you can join in and get some valuable new international contacts.
From the classic to the modern, from Dutch to Indonesian, you’ll explore the market food scene of Amsterdam to your heart’s content in our guided tour.
As you start to get into your stride in your internship, you can start to look ahead.
New goals and ambitions will be unleashed from your internship and it’s the perfect time to have your 1-to-1 career coaching session. The professional coach can talk with you about the goals you’d like to set for your career, and help you find lasting success.
Get in some seriously fun (and tasty) local culture with a tour of the windmills of Zaanse Schans, cheese weighing house in Edam and traditional fishing village of Volendam.
Your time in Amsterdam is nearing its end, and it’s time for the farewell dinner. Catch up one last time with the friends you’ve made and say goodbye, for now at least. Capture some memories to take home with a last stroll along the Prinsengracht canal before you head back.
We collaborate with a diverse array of companies, spanning from boutique PR firms to multinational advisory firms. Please note that these examples are purely for reference. The specific company you’ll be associated with will be determined by a wide range of criteria.

We work with a few carefully selected partners in Amsterdam. Mainly student accommodation and shared apartments, we only provide options that meet our safety, quality and cleanliness standards. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and some young professionals. So it’s a great way to integrate with local community for those traveling from overseas.
You will get a private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding and Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations can vary but you’ll always be well located and near public transport. Depending on your office location, we try to ensure your commute time is 30-60 minutes.
Due to demand for short term accommodation and ever changing availability, we usually confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your start date.
