A new job in a new city will make anyone nervous. To help you acclimate to Berlin and your new routines, you’ll join the Beyond Community. Composed of your fellow interns, there’s no better way to explore the city. Some of them will have been in Berlin for several weeks already so be sure to listen to their experiences and pass along some tips of your own!
We’ll help you get up to speed with a detailed orientation. We’ll help you get to know everything that awaits you, from your new firm to everything the city has to offer!
After the orientation, our welcome lunch or dinner will be the perfect opportunity for you to get to know your fellow interns better. Many of our previous interns have made friends for life during their internship programs!
Throughout your internship you’ll be invited to a number of community meals. You won’t want to miss these – it’s the perfect chance to let loose after a long week. Grab a beer or try some schnitzel and chat about your experiences with friends.

There are start dates every month and last anywhere between one and six months in length, so choose the internship program that works for you.

A leading city for fintech startups and venture capital investment, the city is host to important financial conferences such as the German Equity Forum (Eigenkapitalforum) and the German Equity Day. You’ll draw inspiration from industry leaders and apply it to your future career.

Our immersive workshop is a perfect opportunity to build up your core competencies and apply them to your internship.
Professional coaches and speakers will be there to guide you, taking you through a range of skills exercises, such as leadership, communication, and adaptability.

With the support of a professional career coach, take a moment to consider your career plans and aspirations. Gain insight into your strengths and weaknesses and how to apply them to your career journey.
You may want to schedule this session early in your program. This will allow you to begin your internship with your career goals in mind. Alternatively, you could wait until you have been in Berlin for a couple of weeks. Taking a session at this time will give you a balanced look as you consider your internship progress and how to make adjustments to get the most out of your remaining time.
Lastly, you may wish to wait until the final days of your internship to meet with a coach. You’ll be able to reflect on your achievements and look forward to what your next steps will be when you leave Berlin.

Your first trip is out to the beautiful city of Potsdam. Here you’ll experience German history through grand palaces and royal parks. Explore the Dutch Quarter, home to the largest number of Dutch-style red brick houses outside the Netherlands. You’ll feel like you’ve been dropped into a fairy tale so be sure to spend some time wandering the boutique shops and cafes, stop for a coffee and savor the unique atmosphere.
Berlin is an important city for contemporary art. For your second trip, you’ll find yourself on a walking tour through the city’s galleries and museums; the mix of classical and contemporary artists will help you appreciate Berlin’s artistic culture. Between stops, you’ll stop to sample the best street food and snacks the city has to offer, from roulade to saumagen!
Your final trip is a night of live music and dancing at the Clärchens Ballhaus. Here, you’ll be taken back in time to Berlin’s golden era. Enjoy superb cocktails, delicious food, and world-class musical talent at this early 20th century ballroom. It’s sure to be a night you’ll never forget!
You probably want to know more about what a Finance & Accounting internship looks like, so we’ve compiled a snapshot of a typical 6-week internship in Berlin.
You’ve been planning for months and now you’re finally here: welcome to Berlin! We’ll pick you up at the airport and take you to your new accommodation, beginning your journey into a city brimming with culture and excitement. When we’ve dropped you off the day is yours. Use your first day to start exploring the city or get some much-needed rest after a long flight.
On day two, you’ll join us for a detailed orientation. We’ll help you to get familiar with your internship and the working culture of Berlin; once evening rolls around, you might want to join your new Beyond Community for dinner and get to know other interns. Try something new like schnitzel to really take in the German atmosphere.
Ensure you are on time for your first day of work! You’ll get a better idea of what tasks you’ll be responsible for and then you’ll dive right in. This is your chance to soak up all the experience you can; observe new processes and ask questions of your colleagues; they’re happy to help and want to see you succeed. Apply your new skills throughout your internship to get the most out of your program.
Now it’s time to unwind with your first trip. A short journey outside of Berlin you’ll find the picturesque Potsdam. A city straight out of a fairy tale, you’ll find regal palaces and manicured gardens; enjoy this unique city and soak up the distinctly German atmosphere.
You’ve reached week three and you’re starting to feel at home in Berlin and in your firm. With all you’ve been asked to do, you’re getting to grips with it nicely from keeping a careful eye on the markets and considering financial advice as your colleagues interact with clients. You’ve learned a lot already, which makes this a great time to have a chat with your manager over a cup of coffee.
The last few weeks have been busy and now it’s time to relax. Head over to meet your friends at a community dinner. Sample some of Germany’s famous cuisine or try one of the other diverse options as you trade stories about your internships so far.
Networking is an important part of building a career in Finance & Accounting, so now is the time to start building your own professional network. We’ll invite you to an exclusive industry event and this is your chance to speak with leaders in the field. Make a good impression on the right person and you never know what good things could come of it.
Next, you’ll embark on your second tour. Wander through Berlin’s legendary art scene, from gallery and museum to public art works. And throughout the day you’ll stop to snack on the best street food. There’s no better way to experience the city.
As the end of your program nears, you’ll want to reflect on all you’ve accomplished. Book a 1-to-1 career session and review your progress. Alongside a professional coach, you’ll even get a chance to consider the next steps in your career journey.
Celebrate a successful internship on your final trip! You’ll find yourself transported to Berlin’s golden era at the iconic 20th century ballroom, Clärchens Ballhaus. Dance the evening away to great live music and delicious cocktails.
The end has arrived, but before you depart you’ll want to attend your farewell meal. This is a great opportunity to reminisce with the friends you’ve made and the memories you share. Make sure you trade contact information so you can stay in touch once you leave!
You’ll have a bit of time before your flight home, so be sure to make the most of it. Take a tour of subterranean Berlin and marvel at the old WWII air raid shelters; or find peaceful tranquility at the Berlin Botanical Gardens.

Our carefully chosen housing partners in Berlin meet stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. You’ll be placed in student accommodation or shared apartments and live with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a perfect opportunity to build your own community, especially if you’re travelling from afar.
But privacy is important. You’re guaranteed to have your own private bedroom that comes with bedding, Wi-Fi, and sometimes a desk in addition to the shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces, etc). Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with easy access to public transport. We always try to ensure your commute is no more than 30-60 minutes, depending on the location of your firm.
Around 3-4 weeks before your Finance & Accounting internship begins we’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location. This is due to high demand for short-term accommodation and constantly changing availability.
