A session in the opening few days of your internship is a great way of preparing yourself for the challenging weeks ahead. Consider how best to apply yourself to your program; and set out any goals you might want to meet in Barcelona.
Or a meeting half-way through your time in Barcelona is good for a more balanced session. Spend some time on your progress so far; then finish up your meeting with any adjustments you’d like to make going forward.
Lastly, you could take your appointment in the final days of your program. This is a good way to cap off your time in the city; review your achievements, then turn your attention to your next steps after leaving Barcelona.

When you land in Barcelona, it’s time for your comprehensive orientation. We’ll introduce you to the city and the work that’s awaiting you. You’ll also get regular invites to our popular community dinners. They’re a great way to relax and keep in touch with your friends, so make sure to attend!
Use your international experience as a chance to network as widely as possible. To help, we’ll send out an invite to a professional hospitality networking session in the city. Meet the top leaders in your sector and chat about your industry. Impress the right person with your industry knowledge and job or interview offers may come your way.
Journey out to the popular tourist destination of Girona to discover an ancient city of heritage and culture. Visit the Plaça de la Independència to soak up the city’s proud history of independence; then head over to the Jewish Quarters, which are some of the best-preserved in Europe. Cap off your experience by taking in the grand city walls. Television fans may recognize a few landmarks, so get exploring!
Learn all the secrets to making delicious paella! Head out to a local market to pick up the freshest ingredients for this quintessentially Spanish dish; including prawns and succulent chorizo sausage. Then work closely with a master chef as you have a go at cooking some fantastic paella. You’ll never forget this new skill.
Immerse yourself in the heart of Barcelona as you discover its best features: architecture and tapas. Take a journey from the Roman era through to medieval times and the modern day as you take this tour of the city’s varied and colorful architecture. Then take a break by indulging in some of the finest Spanish snacks you can get your hands on. Hop from tapas bar to tapas bar, trying everything you can.

The rest of your first day is yours to spend as you wish. You could unwind in your room after a long flight; or head straight into the city. Whatever you choose, join us on your second day for your orientation. We’ll get you up to speed with everything you need to know about living in Barcelona; including your workload and the exciting trips and tours you’ll soon be embarking upon. That evening, head out to meet your new Beyond Community. You’ll soon be the best of friends!
Head over to your workplace on your first day. Make a good impression on your colleagues; you’ll be spending a lot of your time alongside them. Get the lowdown on your work and then get stuck in; and remember to ask for help and advice whenever you need it. Your co-workers are here to see you succeed.
As you get to grips with your responsibilities, you’ll soon find yourself stretched and challenged. That’s why it’s a good idea to take an early skills workshop. Alongside professional coaches, train your core skills to prepare for the weeks ahead; and emerge ready to take on the world!
Soon enough, it’s already time for your first trip. Journey out to the nearby city of Girona and experience a fascinating city of history and culture; discover ancient ruins, iconic spots, and more!

You’ve perfected the art of service with a smile, able to seamlessly attend to competing customer requests; and you’re now familiar with all the backstage effort that goes into ensuring that things run smoothly. So take some time out with your manager and chat about your progress.
You’ve been working hard, and you’re looking to unwind. An invite to a community dinner has just turned up, so why not attend? Catch up with your friends and see how their internships are getting on; all over one of Barcelona’s many fantastic international cuisines.
The hospitality sector is busy and interconnected; as a result, you’ll have probably made a few contacts already. To help you as you put together your own network, we’ll send out an invite to a top industry session. Meet and greet with hospitality professionals; hit it off with the right person and good things may come of it.
Next, get ready for a masterclass in making paella! Pick out the finest ingredients from a nearby market, then learn from the best as you tackle this fantastic Spanish dish. Impress friends and family back home with your new skills!
Your internship is drawing to a close, and so you’ve pencilled in your 1-to-1 career session. This is a good opportunity to look back at your achievements and growth; as well as looking forward to the future by setting out your next steps after leaving Barcelona.
Your final trip will take you on a city tour of Barcelona as you discover some fantastic architecture and tapas. By now, you’ll be very familiar with the city; so use this chance to uncover some lesser-known spots around the city. Then try as much mouth-watering Spanish food as possible.
With one last event on the agenda, it’s time to head out to your farewell meal. Meet up with your friends for one final time; reminisce about your favorite memories of your internship, arrange your first group meet-up, then say goodbye.
And before you’re due to fly out, make some time to dash around the city and take in as much as you can. Immerse yourself in the heart of La Sagrada Família; or take in the monthly Model Train Market at Estació de França!

Our housing partners in Barcelona are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Hospitality, Events & Tourism internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
