As you intern in Seoul, you might be working with major chains or boutique firms offering a bespoke experience. Either way, you’ll gain hands-on insight into this busy and ever-changing industry. It’s hard work, and no two days will ever be the same, but the benefits are immeasurable. In this 1-to-1 session, look back on your career so far and plan out your next steps. With the support of a qualified coach, you’ll think critically about your successes and failures, as well as your achievements to date.
Of course, you’ll find your schedule packed full of meetings, trips, and dinners. So you can make an appointment at a time that suits you.
Some interns opt for an early session. This is a good way of getting the most out of your internship. Others prefer a session half-way through their program. This way, you can take a balanced look at your progress so far; as well as any improvements you’d like to make in the future.
Lastly, you could take your appointment towards the end of your internship. This is a good time to look back at your internship experience and reflect.
And at any time in your internship, you’ll have access to personalized career and interview advice. We’ll help you polish your resume or LinkedIn profile for success.

Working in hospitality, events or tourism will be a busy experience. You’ll be regularly multi-tasking as you ensure that everything goes off without a hitch. Here’s a few examples of the tasks you might undertake:
– Manage an travel agency’s website, run social media accounts and update listings on referral websites
– Research and compile itineraries for customers
– Develop event concepts and build relationships with supporters and vendors
– Work with the communications team to develop an effective marketing and social media strategy
– Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on event locations, materials and equipment needed

Those looking for a more stripped-back vibe will love the street art, fashion, and food of Euljiro and Ikseon-Dong; the former is now nicknamed Hipjiro, a portmanteau of ‘hipster’ and ‘Euljiro’! History lovers have a range of shrines, palaces, and museums to discover; and those interested in nature will find an abundance of green spaces and national parks.

Andong Hahoe village showcases the amazing rich history of Korea. You’ll be immersed in traditional houses, shrines, museums and mask dance. With so much culture on offer, make sure you leave time for food. If weather conditions are unfavorable, fret not, we’ll take you on a temple stay experience for you to fully immerse yourself in traditional Korean culture!
The rich traditions around the way Korean food is prepared, cooked, and eaten means you’ll have plenty to experience. You’ll be enveloped in the stories of this fascinating culture while cooking with our master chef.
The Hanbok is a traditional piece of clothing that beautifully reflects the essence of Korean heritage! Let our local community experts assist you in finding the ideal Hanbok, and even help you achieve an intricate hair-do in full Korean tradition!
Throughout the duration of your program, your Seoul Community Coordinators will be by your side, providing both friendly support and a lot of enjoyable moments.
Here’s a snapshot of a typical Seoul internship, based on a 6-week Hospitality, Events and Tourism internship program.
After so much planning and anticipation, you’re about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. You’ve made it to Seoul, and you couldn’t be more excited; but first, meet us at the airport and we’ll take you straight to your new home.
You’ll spend your first day unwinding in a way that suits you; relax in your new home, or get out there and explore Seoul. Join us on day two for your orientation where we’ll familiarize you with everything that awaits you on your program. Afterwards, get to know your Beyond Community. Many interns make life-long friends on our internships, and this is the first step.
On your first working day, display your professionalism and courtesy as you work hard and impress your colleagues. You might want to unwind at a community dinner afterwards; if you’ve tried Korean food already, why not branch out and try something international? After a fantastic evening, grab Seoul’s high-tech subway home.
You’ll often find yourself challenged as your hospitality and events internship progresses. So it’s a good idea to take an early skills workshop. Work with career coaches to prepare yourself for the tasks ahead. Improve your core skills and build up your knowledge base!
Lastly, begin looking forward to the trip to Andong. From its 600-year-old houses, to the retelling of the histories of the Ryu family from the Joseon Dynasty who lived in the village, you’ll have a seriously fascinating time.
As the weeks progress, you’ll start to feel more comfortable in your role. By now, you can handle a range of clients in a friendly and professional manner. You can even develop ideas for social media strategies with your firm’s communications team. You feel confident in your ability to compile tailored itineraries for customers too. So head out with your manager to a nearby café and consider what you’ve learnt.
Seoul is an international hub, and you’ve already likely met lots of interesting people and professionals. Meeting new people and discovering new points of view is essential in the tourism, hospitality or events sector. To help you as you build up your network of contacts, we’ll send out an invite to an exclusive industry event. Meet and greet leaders in your field; make a good impression and job or interview offers may follow.
Next up, it’s time for your food tour. Dive into Seoul’s culinary culture as you try it all; from homegrown Korean food to delicious international dishes. Learn all about South Korea via your belly and pick up a few recipe tips of your own.
You’ll be fully at home in your Internship now, so it’s a great time to look ahead.
If you’ve not done it already, make sure you fit in your 1-to-1 career coaching session. It’s a chance not many professionals get and lets you explore your dreams and ambitions. You can chat over the things you’re finding a little tougher, and set goals and plans for your future career success.

We work with a few carefully selected partners in Seoul. Mainly co-living houses, student accommodation and shared houses, we only provide options that meet our safety, quality and cleanliness standards. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and some young professionals. So it’s a great way to integrate with local community for those traveling from overseas.
You will get a private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding and Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations can vary but you’ll always be well located and near public transport. Depending on your office location, we try to ensure your commute time is 30-60 minutes.
Due to demand for short term accommodation and ever changing availability, we usually confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your start date.
