With start dates every month, and lasting anywhere between one and six months in length, you can choose an internship that works for you.
A true global crossroads, businesspeople, tourists, students and professionals flood into New York every day. You’ll work closely with top hospitality professionals as you learn and grow in the heart of New York; and you’ll leave with key international insight into a sector that’s always evolving.

Working closely with professional coaches and speakers, prepare for a challenging workload with this skills workshop.
Here, you’ll undertake a range of exercises across multiple areas, including effective leadership, team skills, and professional confidence.
You’ll leave this session feeling renewed and re-energized for the weeks ahead.
In this 1-to-1 session, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your career to date. Look back at your successes and failures, as well as your strengths and how best to apply them.
Schedule this appointment depending on what you want to get out of this session. An early appointment is a way to prepare for the weeks ahead. Here, you’ll set out your goals and expectations for your internship. Otherwise, a mid-term session will allow you to split your focus; look back on your progress so far, then make adjustments for your remaining time in the city.
Lastly, you might want to meet in the final few days of your program. Cap off your internship with a look back at a completed program; then consider what opportunities await you after returning home.
You’ll also have access to tailored career advice and interview support. We’ll give you insight into putting together a professional CV or resume; and we’ll offer guidance on building the perfect LinkedIn profile.

Fast-paced and demanding, you’ll need to stay sharp as you work in the hospitality and events sector. You’ll move from task to task, keeping careful track of your responsibilities. Do it well and you’ll pull things off to perfection. Here’s a few examples of the responsibilities that might await you:
– Manage a travel agency websites, run social media accounts and update listings on referral websites
– Provide excellent customer service when booking reservations or organizing tours
– Research and compile itineraries and important information for customers or tourists
– Work with the communications team to develop an effective marketing and social media strategy
– Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on event locations, materials and equipment needed
– Plan, organize and prepare locations for events

Your New York experience will be your opportunity to build a pocketbook of international hospitality contacts. Grow your list by turning up to an industry networking session. Meet top executives and impress; get it right and you might just be speaking to your next boss.
Immerse yourself in the world-famous borough of Brooklyn. Snack on an exquisite selection of food as you try it all, across Michelin-starred restaurants and authentic markets. Then explore the New York Transit Museum to discover a tribute to trains, buses and more. Cap things off with an evening spent taking in the sunset from Brooklyn Bridge.
A hotbed of immigrant and working-class culture, the Lower East Side exhibits a blended culture unique to New York. Head to the Hester Street Fair to pick up a few hand-crafted bargains, then visit the Bluestockings bookstore; an LES institution dedicated to social justice and activism, with plenty of socially minded books and programming to try.

If you’re eager to discover just what it’s like to undertake a Hospitality, Tourism & Events internship, look no further; here’s a snapshot of a typical 6-week New York program.
As your plane glides down over that glorious Manhattan skyline, you realize you’ve finally made it; welcome to New York City. Your program awaits you, but first, it’s time to move in. We’ll be awaiting you at the airport, so link up with us and allow us to take you to your new home. You can spend the rest of the first day as you wish. Some might want to kick back and relax; others might want to head out the door and start exploring. The choice is yours.
On your second day, you’ll join us for your orientation around the city. We’ll get you up to speed with everything awaiting you on your program. In the evening, settle into life in New York as you experience your first community dinner. Get to know your new friends and enjoy delicious food together.
Of course, you’ll soon find yourself challenged by your workload; a skills workshop will help you as you adapt to your role. Work with professional coaches to develop a well-rounded skill-set. You’ll leave this session ready for anything your internship throws at you.
Next, it’s already time for your first half-day trip. Visit Brooklyn, a world-famous borough, as you enjoy food, cosy bookstores, and fantastic sights.
By now, you’re feeling increasingly confident in your role. From delivering perfect service with a smile; to handling all the hard behind-the-curtains work that goes into pulling off the perfect event, you’re really getting the hang of things. Take some time out with your manager and discuss how you’re getting on.
After a busy few weeks, you’re probably looking to unwind; accept a community dinner invite and head out to a local restaurant. Chat with your friends as you see how their internships are getting on; swap stories and laugh long into the night. To get home, grab the subway or hail down an iconic yellow cab.
You’ll have probably made a few contacts already as you’ve worked; now it’s time to make a few more. Head out to an industry networking session and meet and greet with leaders in hospitality and events; make a good impression and good things may come of it.
Next up, it’s time for your second tour. Experience the Lower East Side, a unique neighborhood of immigrant and working-class culture. Discover a history of local activism, art and music; then try an artisan café or two.
As your time in New York comes to a close, you’ve decided to pencil in your 1-to-1 career session. Meet with a qualified coach to review your time in the city; consider what went well and what could have gone better, then set out a roadmap to achieving the job of your dreams.
Your final trip will take you on a cultural deep-dive into the heart of New York. Experience jazz as you’ve never heard it before as you take in some up-and-coming musicians across the city’s jazz bars. Enjoy the music and cocktails!
Six weeks have flown by, but now it’s time; get ready for your farewell meal. Meet up with your friends for one last time; arrange the details of your first big group meet-up, then say goodbye. Before you’re due to fly out, make one last dash around the city, taking as much in as you can. Visit the Museum of the Moving Image for a fantastic tribute to art and film; or take a walking tour through Chinatown, Soho, and Little Italy.

Our housing partners in New York are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Hospitality, Tourism & Events internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
