With start dates every month, and lasting anywhere between one and six months in length, choose the internship that’s right for you.

Around a quarter of the population is made up of immigrants, and the city has a long history of bringing in fresh talent from around the world; it’s the reason it’s the economic and cultural powerhouse it is today. You’ll find new ways of tackling problems here, discovering a unique multi-cultural style that ensures nobody is left behind. It’s a uniquely collaborative experience.

While in New York, you’ll have the chance to boost your core skills and competencies with our immersive workshop.
You’ll work with coaches and speakers to build up your key transferable skills; including effective leadership, professional confidence, and team skills.
There’s no better way of preparing for the busy weeks ahead of you. Whatever challenges your internship will pose, you’ll be ready to face them.
Take a step back from your busy internship to review your career. Work with a qualified coach to consider your strengths and weaknesses, as well as the improvements you can make.
Book in your appointment depending on what you want to get out of it. If you’d like an opportunity to get ready for the weeks ahead, take an early meeting. If you’d prefer a more balanced session, wait until you’re a few weeks in; look back at the progress you’ve made so far, then set out the adjustments you can make for your remaining time in the city.
Lastly, you might want to use your session as a way of reflecting on your completed program. Make an appointment for the final days of your internship; consider your time in New York, then cast your mind out to where you’d like to take your career next.

Before you start your internship, we’ll take you through a comprehensive welcome orientation. We’ll use this time to introduce you to New York and what exactly awaits you on your program. You’ll also receive plenty of invitations to community dinners, so head along! There’s no better way of unwinding after a busy week at work.
Networking is a vital part of any career; often, who you know is as important as what you know. You’ll pick up some contacts of your own in New York; we’ll help you grow out your network by inviting you to a top industry networking session. Meet with top HR leaders as you get to know your sector. Make sure to chat with everyone; new opportunities might just be around the corner.
Famous the world over, Brooklyn is so big that it would be the third-largest city in the US if it were independent! Naturally, that means that there’s a huge variety of things to see and do. Immerse yourself among the plants and wildlife of the expansive Brooklyn Botanic Garden; then try a delicious selection of food, courtesy of the borough’s fantastic delis, restaurants and cafes.
A historic slice of New York, the Lower East Side is a unique neighborhood. Explore LES’s inimitable cultural history: from music, art and food drawn from all over the world to local museums showcasing a history of protest and activism. Try the Tenement Museum to see just what it was like to live here in the 19th century!
Jazz and New York have a long history; experience it for yourself with a trip into the cultural heart of the city. Jazz musicians from all over the world make the pilgrimage to begin their career here; hop from jazz bar to jazz bar as you enjoy a night of fantastic music and delicious cocktails. If you’re eager to discover just what it’s like to undertake a Human Resources internship, look no further; here’s a snapshot of a typical 6-week New York program.
After months of preparation and excitement, you’ve made it: welcome to the Big Apple. You can’t wait to see what awaits you in the city; but first, meet us at the airport and let us take you to your home for the coming weeks.
Join us on day two for your orientation. Here we’ll introduce you to your program, as well as New York itself. That evening, you’ll head out to meet your brand-new Beyond Community. Get to know each other over some of the finest food New York has to offer.
Head over to your office on your first day. Greet your co-workers and make a good first impression. Then get stuck in; your colleagues are here to offer advice and support, so make sure you draw on their wisdom whenever you can.
As you begin to tackle your workload, you’ll soon find yourself stretched by new and unforeseen challenges. Why not take an early skills workshop? Work with coaches and speakers to develop your skills.
Soon enough, it’s already time for your first exciting trip. Immerse yourself in the borough of Brooklyn, a world-famous part of New York. Take in the sights, snack on some delicious food, then finish your day with a trip to Coney Island.
By your third week in New York, you feel like you’re really getting to grips with your workload. Whether it’s taking the lead when interviewing new hires or overhauling your firm’s employee handbook. Take some time out with your manager to discuss your progress.
It’s been a hectic couple of weeks, and you’re looking for some down time. Fortunately, you’ve just received an invite to a community dinner; head along and check in with your friends. Swap stories about your programs as you chat long into the night. Grab the subway home, or hop in an iconic yellow cab!
In your HR role, you’ll likely have met a lot of your fellow professionals already. We’ll help you build up your network by inviting you to an industry networking session. Meet new people and make valuable connections.
It’s soon time for your second tour. Take a trip down to the iconic Lower East Side neighborhood, a hotbed of immigrant and working-class culture. Explore a history of politics, punk music, art and activism as you explore this unique area.
Your internship is nearing its end, and you’re feeling reflective. It’s been a whirlwind six weeks, and you can’t quite believe it’s nearly over. To look back on what you’ve gained, book in your 1-to-1 career session. Your professional coach will help you assess your achievements, as well as consider future steps.
Your final trip will take you into the heart of the unparalleled New York music scene. Head to a jazz bar or two as you take in some old favourites and brand-new compositions, played by talent from all over the world.
Your last event is your goodbye dinner. Meet up with your friends for one final time; reminisce about your time in the city, arrange the details of your first big group meet-up, then say goodbye.
Before you’re due to fly out of New York, you’ll want to make sure you’ve made the most of it. Explore the secrets of Track 61, an abandoned train station underneath the Waldorf-Astoria hotel; or take a visit to the Mysterious Bookshop, a bookstore that only stocks mystery, crime fiction, espionage, and thrillers!

Our housing partners in New York are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Human Resources internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
