Beyonders Share Their Experience on Our Program

“What I loved about Beyond Academy and why I choose them is because they are more flexible and more individually tailored to what each person is looking for, rather than just a generalised experience. My group and the entire Beyond community has been really welcoming. I am so lucky to be able to have this experience with people that are similar, as in we are all looking to grow personally, grow professionally and also just enjoy every moment. Everyone here has left behind the familiar and has come to the unfamiliar which can be scary, but when you have a community as good as this, it’s not scary at all.”

Hannah from the United States
PR & Journalism Intern, London Immersive Program

NYC intern on her second day

Weeks 1 & 2

After months of preparation and excitement, you’ve made it: welcome to the Big Apple. You can’t wait to see what awaits you in the city; but first, meet us at the airport and let us take you to your home for the coming weeks.

Join us on day two for your orientation. Here we’ll introduce you to your program, as well as New York itself. That evening, you’ll head out to meet your brand-new Beyond Community. Get to know each other over some of the finest food New York has to offer.

Head over to your office on your first day. Greet your co-workers and make a good first impression. Then get stuck in; your colleagues are here to offer advice and support, so make sure you draw on their wisdom whenever you can.

As you begin to tackle your workload, you’ll soon find yourself stretched by new and unforeseen challenges. Why not take an early skills workshop? Work with coaches and speakers to develop your skills.

Soon enough, it’s already time for your first exciting trip. Immerse yourself in the borough of Brooklyn, a world-famous part of New York. Take in the sights, snack on some delicious food, then finish your day with a trip to Coney Island.

View over NYC

Weeks 3 & 4

By your third week in New York, you feel like you’re really getting to grips with your workload. Whether it’s taking the lead when interviewing new hires or overhauling your firm’s employee handbook. Take some time out with your manager to discuss your progress.

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks, and you’re looking for some down time. Fortunately, you’ve just received an invite to a community dinner; head along and check in with your friends. Swap stories about your programs as you chat long into the night. Grab the subway home, or hop in an iconic yellow cab!

In your HR role, you’ll likely have met a lot of your fellow professionals already. We’ll help you build up your network by inviting you to an industry networking session. Meet new people and make valuable connections.

It’s soon time for your second tour. Take a trip down to the iconic Lower East Side neighborhood, a hotbed of immigrant and working-class culture. Explore a history of politics, punk music, art and activism as you explore this unique area.

Your final trip will take you into the heart of the unparalleled New York music scene. Head to a jazz bar or two as you take in some old favourites and brand-new compositions, played by talent from all over the world.

Your last event is your goodbye dinner. Meet up with your friends for one final time; reminisce about your time in the city, arrange the details of your first big group meet-up, then say goodbye.

Before you’re due to fly out of New York, you’ll want to make sure you’ve made the most of it.
