Orientation

Take your first day settling in (and get over jetlag for those coming from afar!). You will be invited to a comprehensive orientation on your second day in the country, where we will tell you everything you need to know about the city and what to expect from the program in the coming weeks and months.

Welcome dinner

After the orientation, our welcome dinner will be the perfect opportunity for you to get to know your fellow interns better. Many of our previous interns have made friends for life during their internship programs!

Bi-Weekly community dinner

There will be a community dinner every few weeks to keep you in touch with everyone.

Every few weeks we will get everyone together for a fun evening of catchups and good local food.

See what awaits you – here’s a snapshot of what it’s like to intern in Tokyo based on a typical 6-week program.

Weeks 1 & 2

After all that waiting, the wheels of the plane finally hit the tarmac. Welcome to Tokyo.

Take a day to steady yourself and get settled into your accommodation then join us for an orientation and welcome dinner. You’ll be able to meet other interns and start making friends from around the world.

The first days of your internship will be an exhilarating experience. You’ll be introduced to your team and get a chance to explore the new office. After work dinner at Shibuya with our Community Team to unwind. Why not explore a new local neighbourhood on your way home.

Work will be your focus in these early weeks. You’ll also get the chance to take our Business Workshop which will give you a range of tools and insights that you can put to action in the office.

Finally, start looking forward to our day trip to Mount Fuji. It will definitely be a highlight of your time in Japan.

Weeks 3 & 4

Grab coffee with your Manager and find out how you are doing at work.

Networking events will see you chatting with inspiring industry professionals and building your international network.

Continue exploring the wonders that Tokyo has to offer with our amazing events. Tea-making, hidden cafes – you’ll never have a dull weekend during your time in Tokyo!

Weeks 5 & 6

As you start to get into your stride in your internship, it’s the perfect time to look ahead.

In your 1-to-1 career coaching session you’ll start to unleash your dreams and ambitions. Talk through your strengths and challenges. Set goals and start making plans for your career success.

As your time in Tokyo nears its end, you’ll get a great send-off from us and the amazing people you have met during your farewell dinner.

You’ll have made many friends and contacts who’ll no doubt now be part of your professional network. One last meal for the road at your favourite local izakaya?

Accommodation
in Tokyo

+ USD 1,210 per month

We work with a few carefully selected partners in Tokyo. Mainly student accommodation and share houses, we only provide options that meet our safety, quality and cleanliness standards. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and some young professionals. So it’s a great way to integrate with local community for those traveling from overseas.

You will get a private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding and Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations can vary but some of the areas may include Setagaya-ku, Koto-Ku and Nakano-Ku. Depending on your office location, we try to ensure your commute time is 30-60 minutes, which is pretty good for Tokyo.

Due to demand for short term accommodation and ever changing availability, we usually confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your start date.
