Here’s a snapshot of what awaits you in Seoul, based on a typical 6-week journalism internship program.
The futuristic cityscape of Seoul awaits you as you land at Incheon International Airport. You’re eager to get to grips with this enticing city. But first, meet us at the airport so we can whisk you straight to your accommodation.
Some interns use their first day to kick back, relax, and to get settled in. Especially if they’ve traveled from further afield! Others head straight back out the door and start exploring their local neighborhood.
Meet us on day two for your comprehensive orientation; you’ll get up to speed with Seoul, as well as what awaits you during your Journalism internship. After, head out to a community dinner. Introduce yourself to your fellow interns and enjoy some quintessential South Korean cuisine.
You’ll want to make a good impression as your internship begins, so turn up early on your first day and respectfully introduce yourself to your editor and colleagues. After a busy first day, you’ll want to unwind at a community dinner. Then use Seoul’s world-class public transport system to get home; did you know a team of mathematicians manages it?
As your journalism internship progresses, you’ll find yourself regularly challenged by your busy and varied workload. You might want to take an early skills workshop to boost your existing skill-set. You’ll hone your skills, learn some new ones, and leave feeling empowered.
Lastly, begin looking forward to the trip to Andong. From its 600-year-old houses, to the retelling of the histories of the Ryu family from the Joseon Dynasty who lived in the village, you’ll have a seriously fascinating time.
By now, you feel like your editing skills have come on leaps and bounds. You’ve become comfortable brainstorming ideas in development meetings and can fish out a good lead. In fact, some of your leads have already led to news stories! So head out with your manager to a nearby café to discuss your progress so far.
As you develop professionally, you’ll naturally pick up contacts to add to your network. In journalism, getting to know the right people can pay dividends. In addition to your own networking, we’ll send out an exclusive invite to attend a professional industry networking event. Enjoy socializing in a professional setting and expand your list of contacts.
Then join us on your second tour as you discover Seoul’s fantastic food culture! Sample as much as you can, from kimchi jjigae stew to beef bulgogi; and learn some local history while you do it. By now, you’ve likely developed favorite dishes and have discovered the best after-work restaurants and nearby street food vendors.
You’ll be fully at home in your Internship now, so it’s a great time to look ahead.
If you’ve not done it already, make sure you fit in your 1-to-1 career coaching session. It’s a chance not many professionals get and lets you explore your dreams and ambitions. You can chat over the things you’re finding a little tougher, and set goals and plans for your future career success.
Lastly, begin looking forward to the trip to Andong. From its 600-year-old houses, to the retelling of the histories of the Ryu family from the Joseon Dynasty who lived in the village, you’ll have a seriously fascinating time.
All good things must come to an end and we’ll make sure you get a great send off at our farewell dinner. Say goodbye to the amazing people you’ve met and get ready to head home.
We collaborate with a diverse array of companies, spanning from boutique PR firms to multinational advisory firms. Please note that these examples are purely for reference. The specific company you’ll be associated with will be determined by a wide range of criteria.
