Some prefer to take their meeting in the opening days of their program. This is a good way of setting out any goals you’d like to meet in your time here. Or you might want to wait until part-way through your internship for a more balanced session. Focus firstly on what you’ve gained so far, then consider the adjustments you’d like to make going forward.
Lastly, a session towards the close of your internship is a great way of capping off your time in Barcelona. Reflect on what you’ve achieved and set out the next steps to your dream job.

By night, soak up the atmosphere of a city filled with music, dancing, and delicious food and drink. Join the revellers as you experience the many riches Barcelona’s nightlife has to offer; then begin the cycle all over again tomorrow.

We’ll get you up to speed with everything that awaits you in Barcelona. From the work you’ll be doing to your community events, including several exciting trips. You’ll also get plenty of dinner invites, so head along to take a break from your busy internship.
While you’re in Barcelona, you’ll meet plenty of legal professionals and pick up some industry contacts. We’ll assist you by sending out an invite to a top industry event. Head along and get to know the leaders in your sector; hit it off with the right person and you might just be speaking to your next boss.
Wind your way down the narrow bustling streets of Girona as you journey out to this ancient city. From the medieval old town to the impressive city walls, discover some fantastic history and culture. Stop by the Plaça de la Independència to immerse yourself in city’s proud independent past; then uncover the well-preserved Jewish Quarters before you go.
A Spanish dish known all around the world, get hands-on with paella as you learn all the tricks of the trade to making this iconic dish. Head out to a nearby market and pick up some fresh ingredients; from prawns to tasty chorizo sausage. Then work closely with a master chef; you’ll never forget this impressive skill!
Immerse yourself in the heart of Barcelona as you take this architecture and tapas tour. Take a historical journey across thousands of years as you catch sight of various architectural styles and influences. As you go, hop from tapas bar to tapas bar, indulging in some delicious Spanish food and drink.
You’ll be eager to learn just what a typical Law internship looks like. So here’s a snapshot of a 6-week Barcelona program.
After so much planning and anticipation, you’ve finally made it to Barcelona. Step off the plane into the warm air and bask in the sunshine; then meet us in arrivals and allow us to take you straight to your accommodation for the next few weeks.
Your first day is yours to do with as you wish. You might want to sleep off the jet lag in your room, or else head out and start exploring Barcelona. You’ll join us on your second day for your orientation; here, we’ll get you up to speed with what awaits you on your internship. It’s also your chance to ask any questions you might have. That evening, head out to meet your Beyond Community for the first time. You’ll be spending a lot of time with your new friends over the next few weeks, so get to know each other.
Turn up nice and early on your first day of work to introduce yourself to your co-workers. Learn the ropes, then dive into your workload. Draw inspiration from their knowledge and expertise; they’ll be a great source of insight throughout your time here.
You’ll soon find yourself challenged by the work facing you. So it’s a good idea to take a skills workshop to prepare yourself for the peaks and troughs of your internship. Sharpen your existing skills and learn some new ones; then leave this session ready to face the weeks ahead.
Soon enough, it’s time for your first trip. Welcome to Girona, an ancient city of incredible history and culture; take in the sights and learn something new.
By your third week in Barcelona, you feel like you’ve got a handle on your workload. You’ve been keeping abreast of the latest legal developments and how they might impact your firm’s area of expertise. And you’re adept at juggling your colleagues’ caseloads, providing ad hoc assistance where needed; this can cover anything from attending court to interviewing clients. So take some time out with your manager to discuss your progress.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and you’re looking to unwind. A community dinner is the best way of spending a spare evening: so meet up with your friends at a nearby international restaurant and chat the night away. Take a walk home along the beach!
You’ll already have met some fellow legal professionals while in Barcelona; you might even have swapped a number or two. To boost your growing network, head to an industry event and meet and greet with leaders in your sector. Make a good impression and job or interview offers may be around the corner.
Now it’s time to discover the secrets to delicious paella. Work with a Spanish master chef as you learn all the tricks of the trade; impress friends and family back home with this new skill.
You can’t quite believe your internship is drawing to an end; it’s time to look back on what you’ve gained here. Organize your 1-to-1 career session and consider your achievements and failures; then start thinking about your next steps after leaving the city.
Your final trip will take you on a tour in the heart of Barcelona. By now, Barcelona will be your second home, and you’ll know it like the back of your hand. So use this architecture and tapas tour to discover some hidden hotspots that have eluded you in your time here. Then try all the food and snacks that you’re yet to try!
It’s now time for your final meet-up. There’s no better way of concluding your time in Barcelona than spending an evening with your community. Congratulate each other on your success, then say goodbye.
Before you’re due to fly out, make as much out of the city as you can. Take a ramble down the famous La Rambla boulevard, taking in the sights; or explore some of Gaudí’s masterpieces in Park Güell!

Our housing partners in Barcelona are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Law internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
