After so much waiting and preparation, you’ve made it: welcome to Tokyo. Step off the plane and bask in the glow of a brand new city; then meet us in arrivals so we can whisk you straight to your new accommodation.

Your first day is about unwinding after a long trip. For some that’s sleeping off the jet lag or laying low in a nearby café; for others, it’s heading straight back out the door and diving into Tokyo. Whatever you choose, join us on day two for your orientation. We’ll introduce you to everything you need to know about your program, as well as Tokyo itself. Then get ready to dine on the finest Japanese cuisine as you meet your brand-new Beyond Community. It’s a great way to get to know each other.

On your first day of work, throw yourself into the thick of things to make a good impression on your new colleagues. You’ll be getting to know them well over the coming weeks. After a busy day, you could unwind at a community dinner; why not grab some takeout and head to Yoyogi Park for an al fresco dining experience?

As your internship progresses, you’ll often find yourself challenged by a range of new tasks and experiences. So it’s a good idea to prepare yourself with an early skills workshop. You’ll work with coaches and speakers to get your skills into gear for the weeks ahead.

It’s already time for your first trip. Visit Mount Fuji to discover stunning natural beauty. You’ll never forget the expansive views over Tokyo and the surrounding lakes.

So head out to a sushi restaurant with your manager and review your progress.

Tokyo has ties with cities all over the world, and you’ll meet a diverse array of professionals as you work. To aid you as you build your growing list of contacts, we’ll send out an invite to an exclusive networking session. Head along and meet the top leaders in law – you never know what might come of it.

Next, it’s time for your second event. You’ll learn the secrets of traditional Japanese tea-making, while wearing the traditional kimono!

tokyo-workshop

Weeks 5 & 6

Your internship is drawing to a close, and you’ve been thinking about what you’ve gained: practical work experience, a complete cultural education, and life-long friends and contacts. If you haven’t already, you’ll want to conclude your internship with a 1-to-1 career session. Consider your achievements and plan out your next steps; all with professional guidance.

It’s time for your final trip; Shinjuku. Discover mini-bars, karaoke rooms, and delicious food as you explore this unique district. It’s an unforgettable night-life experience.

And before you leave, you’ve got one final event scheduled: your goodbye dinner. Put on your best clothes and meet up with your community for one last time. Reminisce, swap contact details, and say farewell.

Before you leave Tokyo, make sure you’ve made the most of the city. Whether that’s playing vintage video games at the Gigo Sega building in Akihabara or exploring the stunning teamLAB Borderless exhibition in Odaiba. You won’t regret it.

“What I loved about Beyond Academy and why I choose them is because they are more flexible and more individually tailored to what each person is looking for, rather than just a generalised experience. My group and the entire Beyond community has been really welcoming. I am so lucky to be able to have this experience with people that are similar, as in we are all looking to grow personally, grow professionally and also just enjoy every moment. Everyone here has left behind the familiar and has come to the unfamiliar which can be scary, but when you have a community as good as this, it’s not scary at all.”

“My experience so far here has been amazing, it’s just a shock how much I have been enjoying it. The interns are amazing here so we have been hanging out and getting to know each other and exploring Seoul. It’s really just been a full experience that I have been embracing every single day. I work in a team who creates content relating to K-pop. My favourite part of interning is getting to know my coworkers, being around a group of people that are just so kind and inviting, working alongside them every day has been the best experience. I had been hearing about Beyond Academy for quite some time and I read some really great reviews. I wanted to get the work and life balance, which Beyond offered. My favourite thing about Beyond are the connections I have made here and also the events that have been planned, it gets all of us out to embrace Korean culture.”

Jordan from the United States
Marketing Intern, Seoul Immersive Program

“I would recommend Beyond Academy because overall its such an incredible experience. Its not like studying abroad through school because you are really immersed in it, you are here living and working and it really gives you the opportunity to feel like you are making headway in your career. ”

Francesca from the United States Theatre Production Intern, London Immersive Program

I love the fact that so much effort has gone into us having a such a good time. My overall experience so far has been incredible, the balance between working and having fun with friends, and the accommodation has just been great.”

Kim from South Africa
