Take a scenic day trip to the iconic Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. Take in the beautiful Kawaguchiko Lake, Shinto shrines, and the centuries-old Buddhist Taisekiji Head Temple, founded in 1290. There are plenty of climbing routes too, and even the opportunity to paraglide!
To the Japanese, attention to detail is everything. Learn all about the intricate process of traditional Japanese tea-making, all while donning a traditional kimono!
Visit a delightful interactive museum that showcases modern Japanese digital art technology at its finest!

Here’s a quick run-down of what it’s like to intern in Tokyo, based on a typical 6-week Marketing internship program.
As soon as you arrive, we’ll be at the airport ready to pick you up and deliver you to your new home for the next 6 weeks.
First up, it’s time to settle! Get over your jet lag or explore your surroundings, on day two, get ready for your orientation. Relax as we detail your time in Tokyo and what to expect on your internship. After orientation, why not get to know your fellow interns over some iconic Japanese cuisine?
Practise your commute and turn up early to make a good impression on your first day. Get to know your manager and the rest of the marketing team as you settle into your office. When your day is complete, kick back at one of our community dinners; it might be a dish of sushi, or Sukiyaki beef. Navigate Japan’s advanced public transport to get home or walk around to get a feel for the city – it’s one of the safest places in the world.
You’ll be learning constantly during your Marketing internship. Why not prepare yourself by taking an skills workshop in your first or second week? Improve your existing skill-set and let us equip you with the resources you need to succeed in your internship, and beyond.
It’s already time for your first day trip to Mount Fuji. Snap some Instagrammable pictures of the breath-taking view, center yourself by the calming Kawaguchiko Lake, then take in some of Japan’s cultural heritage at nearby awe-inspiring Shinto shrines.
In week three, chat with your marketing manager and review your progress so far. You’ll have been undertaking a diverse range of tasks; such as strategizing social media campaigns with the marketing team, or planning SEO optimized blog posts. Discuss what you’ve enjoyed and what you’d like to work on further over a coffee or oolong tea.
As one of the most populous and richest cities in the world, Tokyo is teeming with opportunities to network. It’s now time to start building your contact list. So head along to a professional networking event and get to know other marketers; swap details and grow your contacts list to open up future opportunities. After networking, relax at a sentō (one of Tokyo’s public baths) before heading home or meeting up to socialize with other interns.
Next, it’s time for your second event. You’ll learn the secrets of traditional Japanese tea-making, while wearing the traditional kimono!
You’ll be shocked to realize that you’re already approaching the end of your time in Tokyo, so it’s time to look forward to your next steps.
Taking on a Marketing internship in Tokyo is a unique experience; you’ll be sure to have discovered something new about yourself and your aspirations. By now, you feel at ease in Tokyo. You know your local area like the back of your hand, you have favorite spots and places to hang out; you’re even comfortable navigating the city’s public transport with ease. You’ve achieved a lot in 6 weeks!
In your final week, it’s time to fully immerse yourself in the cultural scene of Tokyo with your third trip. The nightlife of Shinjuku is unmatched; the beautiful neon signs make for a perfect picture opportunity. Enjoy bar-hopping and socializing in this entertainment hotspot and cap it all off with songs and laughter at one of the area’s iconic karaoke rooms.
Your experience in Tokyo is almost over, so it’s time to prepare for one last dinner. Chat with your fellow interns, say your goodbyes and make preparations to tick off any remaining activities. Visit the area around Tokyo’s Imperial Palace or explore Yoyogi Park. Don’t forget to pick up a few souvenirs from the stalls in Asakusa, or at Daiso (one of Japan’s one hundred yen stores) if you’ve already overspent!
As you board your plane, you’ll think back on your amazing memories of Tokyo.

Our Tokyo housing partners are chosen to meet to our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. The housing we offer is mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. So your roommates will be fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals; it’s a great way to build a local community.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed close to public transport. Depending on the location of your firm, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Marketing internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
