Moving to a new city, and starting a new job, can be a nerve-wracking experience. To help you settle in, you’ll join the Beyond Community; a group of new and existing interns experiencing Barcelona just like you. Through social events and social events, you’ll soon be the closest of friends.
Before beginning your internship, we’ll familiarize you with everything that awaits you on your program.

Attracting brand-new thinkers and innovators from all over the globe, you’ll make an unforgettable professional start in the city; all while you develop your skills and draw inspiration from the best.

While in Barcelona, take the opportunity to prepare for your internship with a skills workshop.
Here, you’ll work with professional coaches to improve your professional skill-set and boost your development. A typical session will take you through exercises on effective leadership, communication skills, and building a professional portfolio.
You’ll leave this session ready to take on every challenge your internship will throw at you.
While in Barcelona, schedule a 1-to-1 career session with a qualified coach. Take this opportunity to reflect honestly on your career so far; consider your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your career goals.
Some prefer their meeting in the opening days of their program. This will allow you to prepare for the weeks ahead; you could also set out some goals to meet in your time here. Or you might want to wait until half-way through your internship for a more balanced session. Begin by reflecting on your successes so far; then set out any adjustments for the rest of your time.
Lastly, you could take your appointment in the closing days of your internship. This is a good way of capping things off; consider what you’ve gained, then set out your next steps to your dream job.
And at any point in your program, we’ll offer you personalized career advice and interview tips. We can assist you as you get your CV or resume up to scratch; or help you polish your LinkedIn profile.

When you land in the city, join us for your comprehensive welcome orientation. We’ll familiarize you with your coming internship, including your work and trips. You’ll also receive plenty of community dinner invites, so head along!
Use your international internship to forge lasting connections in the tech industry. Software engineering is an international business, so get to know as many people as possible. We’ll even send you out an invite to a professional networking event; hit it off with the right person and you might be speaking to your next boss.
From the Romans to the Moors, Franks and Barcelonans, Girona is a city with history at its forefront. Discover ‘Barcelona in miniature’ through its fantastic selection of museums and galleries; then explore iconic landmarks, including a site or two recognizable to TV fans. Make sure to take in the city’s grand fortifications before you leave.
Get to grips with this world-famous Spanish dish as you discover all the secrets to making delicious paella. Work with a master chef as you learn from the best; begin by picking out some of the finest ingredients, including chorizo sausage and prawns, then get to work! You’ll make sure to impress friends and family back home with your new skill.
Zig-zag across Barcelona as you take in the city’s best features: architecture and tapas. Discover a city where old meets new in every possible way; and with widespread urban regeneration, things are always changing. As you cross the city, take regular breaks in Barcelona’s selection of tapas bars. Try all the Spanish food and drink you possibly can.

As you take your first steps into the Barcelonan sunshine, you realize you’ve finally made it: welcome to Barcelona. The first order of business is meeting us in arrivals; we’re here to take you straight to your new accommodation. Then it’s time to settle in: how you spend the day is your choice, whether you want to relax in your room or explore the city.
On your second day, join us for your orientation. We’ll get you up to speed with your coming challenges. Then in the evening, you’ll meet your Beyond Community for the first time over a plate of delicious Spanish food. Chat into the night as you begin to make friendships that will last a lifetime.
Turn up nice and early on your first day and introduce yourself to your co-workers. Take inspiration from their knowledge and ask them any questions you might have; they’re here to help you succeed, after all.
Your workload will pose new and unexpected difficulties, so take a skills workshop to help you adapt. Work with coaches and speakers to boost your skill-set; apply what you’ve learned to your new job, and your future career.
It’s already time for your first trip. Head out to Girona, a popular tourist spot, to discover the history and culture of ‘Barcelona in miniature’. See if you can spot a landmark or two!
It’s week three, and you’re really getting the hang of your workload. From keeping your firm’s website updated and bug-free to conducting intensive research into the latest technological innovations. Take some time out with your manager and discuss your progress.
After a busy few weeks, you’ve been looking to unwind; fortunately, you’ve just received a community dinner invite. Meet up with your friends and swap stories about your first few weeks on the job; sample one of the city’s many international cuisines, or else grab takeaways and head to the beach!
You’ll have already met a few of your fellow tech professionals; you’ll want to develop your network even further by attending a top industry session. Impress the right person and it might just pay off!
Your second trip is a paella-making masterclass. Here, you’ll work closely alongside a master chef as you discover everything you need to know about this Spanish classic. You’ll never forget your new skills!
Almost as soon as it began, your internship is entering its final days. You’ve decided to take your 1-to-1 career session in order to reflect on what you’ve gained. Not just world-class work experience, but lifelong friends and an unmissable cultural immersion. It’s certainly been worth it. Finish things up by casting your mind forward to the future.
Your final trip is an immersive deep-dive into Barcelona as you discover architecture and tapas. You’re pretty familiar with the city by now, so use this opportunity to explore Barcelona for one last time. Make sure you’re snacking between architectural sights!
You’ve got one last event on the agenda: your farewell dinner. Meet up with your friends for one last time, reminiscing over the good times you’ve had; pledge to keep in touch, then say goodbye. And make sure to spend your remaining few nights in the city seeing any sights you might have missed out on. Head over to the Parc Güell to get a glimpse at a few more Gaudí masterpieces; or discover ‘The World Begins With Every Kiss’ mural, an exhibition of romantic mosaics.

Our housing partners in Barcelona are carefully chosen to meet our stringent safety, quality and cleanliness standards. We offer mainly student accommodation or shared apartments. You’ll be living with fellow Beyond Interns, students and other young professionals. It’s a great way to build your own community, especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
You’ll have your own private bedroom with shared communal spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living spaces etc). All rooms come with bedding, Wi-Fi, and often have a desk. Locations will vary but you’ll always be placed somewhere with access to public transport. Depending on where your firm is, we try to ensure your commute time is no more than 30-60 minutes.
We’ll confirm your exact accommodation and location around 3-4 weeks before your Technology & Software Engineering internship begins. This is due to the demand for short-term accommodation and ever-changing availability.
