“What I loved about Beyond Academy and why I choose them is because they are more flexible and more individually tailored to what each person is looking for, rather than just a generalised experience. My group and the entire Beyond community has been really welcoming. I am so lucky to be able to have this experience with people that are similar, as in we are all looking to grow personally, grow professionally and also just enjoy every moment. Everyone here has left behind the familiar and has come to the unfamiliar which can be scary, but when you have a community as good as this, it’s not scary at all.”

Weeks 1 & 2

Step off the plane and get your first taste of that fresh Spanish air; cross the tarmac and meet us in arrivals as we welcome you to Barcelona. We’ll whisk you to your accommodation so you can acclimatize to your new surroundings in a way that suits you.

Whether you relaxed in your room or began exploring the city, meet us on your second day for your orientation. We’ll get you up to speed with your coming internship. In the evening, you’ll meet your Beyond Community for the first time. Chat with your new community over a delicious Spanish dish; many interns make friends for life, and this is where it all starts.

On your first day of work, introduce yourself to your colleagues and get stuck in. This is a learning experience, so draw on their knowledge and insight as you develop your own skills. They’re here to help you succeed!

Of course, you’ll soon find yourself challenged by your workload; so take a skills workshop to help you adapt to your internship. Work with professional coaches to develop your core competencies; leave this session ready to face the future.

It’s already time for your first trip. Take a journey out to the popular tourist site of Girona, also known as ‘Barcelona in miniature’. Soak up some history and culture, then go landmark spotting!

Weeks 3 & 4

By week three, you feel like you’re really getting to grips with your workload. Your editing skills are growing, and you’re developing an eye for effective set design. So take some time out with your manager to discuss your progress.

It’s been a hectic few weeks, so take some time out to unwind with a community dinner. Meet up with your friends and see how they’ve been getting on; if your first dinner was Spanish, try one of the city’s many authentic international cuisines.

The entertainment industry is heavily interconnected, so you’ve probably met a few fellow professionals already. Build up your contact list by attending a top industry session; you might just secure your next job here!

Your second trip is a culinary adventure. Working with a master chef, you’re about to learn all the tips and tricks to making world-class paella. This delicious dish is recognized across the world – and you’re about to be a master of it.

Weeks 5 & 6

You can’t quite believe your internship is nearing its end, but you’ve started thinking about drawing things to a close. To begin with, make sure you organize your 1-to-1 career session to reflect on your experiences; end your meeting by planning out a roadmap to your dream job.

For your final trip, take a deep-dive into the heart of Barcelona as you discover the city’s architecture and tapas. By now you’ll be intimately familiar with Barcelona, so take the chance to explore some hidden hotspots. You’ll be snacking on all the tapas you can eat as you go.

With one final event to attend, your time in Barcelona is nearly over. Conclude things with your farewell dinner; there will be tears and laughter as you meet up with your community for one last time. One thing’s for sure: you’ve made friends for life here.

Before you’re due to fly out, you’ll want to use your remaining free time to make the most of Barcelona. Check out the Calder Mercury Fountain to discover a captivatingly beautiful display; or head to the Montjuïc Cemetery to immerse yourself among some unusual statues!
